@NicholasChrimes@AirwayMxAcademy@doctimcook I agree with Nick here. I made this slide recently to demonstrate what he successfully summarised with an expletive and an adjective.
POGO has absolutely no discriminating ability at the challenging end of the spectrum. It wastes 95% of a 100-point scale on 'easy'.
Untimely article; and that number continues to march higher. Look after yourselves and your colleagues, friends. 🙁

Finally met @GongGasGirl today when she went “Oh my gosh it’s Shawn from the Twitter!” 🤣 Should’ve gotten a photo to mirror the one I got with @maffygirl but t’was a busy day.
A 20 theatre hospital will discard approximately 100,000 single use surgical hats every year
Single use hats are made from Viscose - manufactured from hardwood tree pulp. The process and chemicals used create significant environmental waste.

@GongGasGirl @Rick_Pescatore Certainly not an answer, but would be a useful adjunct - I imagine ambient solutions may help us spend more time focussing on actively listening to patients rather than wrangling eMR, arranging orders etc. That's fundamentally what differentiates us as humans - communication!
Is #perioperative AKI caused by #hypotension despite #norepinephrine therapy, or by norepinephrine itself?

Most people think the heart drives circulation.
But what if that’s backwards?
Anderson’s model flips the whole idea of cardiac output on its head — and it changes how you think about fluid, flow, and failure.

Separately - feedback says that I need work in appearing more confident in my answers during interviews - been practicing. Anyone has interview coaches or performance psychologists in AU to recommend? Which of the two is more useful? Am already aware of frameworks eg SPIES, STAR
Interesting chat with mates from SG. How do training programs handle the trade offs between selecting for service provision (bearing in mind a training program should train) vs non-technical skills which are harder to train? #MedEd
BOA response to The Times (1st May, 2025) article suggesting orthopaedic surgery is primarily suited to men due to the physical nature of the work: “outdated and derogatory.”
BOA President Mark Bowditch: “Skill, judgement and teamwork—not gender—define a good surgeon.”

Sometimes the best intervention is... presence. Sat with a patient navigating deep trauma this week. 20 minutes of just listening on the pain round. Her physical pain presentation faded. Reminded of the power of human connection and why we do what we do :)
Spent the week off visiting a friend (and now trauma patient) in the 'gong and caught up with a few folks at TWH. Chuffed I got to spend time with the folks that made it home! Sadly still can't convince @drbruceashford to switch to BSky though.
Hot off the press in @Anaes_Journal! All VL designs outperform DLs in efficacy, safety, and quality. Channelled VLs rank highest for most outcomes. HAVLs & channelled VLs offer better views than Mac-VLs.
