We would never tolerate 3,000 deaths per month on America's airlines or subways, but on our roads we act like it's normal.
It's time for a new mentality for roadway safety.
So great to see France leading the way here. I can't imagine more than 1 or 2 of these being implemented nationally in the US, but it really is about politics and nothing else. We're still here incentivizing EVs and expanding highways 🙄
From curbing flights to taxing SUVs, France has enacted some of the most creative and climate-friendly transportation policies in the world.
An appreciative 🧵:
"What began as a typical ballot effort was threatened 1st by the pandemic, then by bad advice from city officials, & ultimately by elected representatives who believe they have no obligation to account for the city’s inconsistency"

City council is now trying to exclude us from the ballot because they don’t want to change #Boulder’s exclusionary housing laws.
Now we’re going to court to protect your right to vote.
#Boulder! from now until the end of this city council meeting, I'm going to match every dollar donation to @boulderbedrooms Democracy Defense Fund.
Other donors are matching 2x total up to $5,000. Please help me spread the word! https://t.co/2nJK6z4Qfv
Yesterday, we filed suit against the City of #Boulder to protect our rights to direct democracy.
You can read more about our suit and path to victory here: https://t.co/2znsxcLwFo
We have a goal of raising $7,746 in 7 days for our legal defense! After we submitted 7,746 signatures, City Council is forcing us to go to court to get on the ballot! We cannot let them suppress Boulder's right to vote on this critical issue! https://t.co/fZFrFJTUzQ
@emma_vawter That's so frustrating. 1- it's getting harder and harder to see Boulder as "non-suburban" (single family zoning, min lot size, NIMBYism, etc). 2- she even says she was lucky. But she and others built an "inclusive" community that now... doesn't want to include young progressives?
BOULDER— today is the day that Bedrooms Are For People (@boulderbedrooms) turns in our final set of signatures. we are pleased to announce that we will turn in over 7,500 signatures for validation by the Boulder city clerk
“The threat of legal action is a necessary step to confront protectionist and obstructionist politics run amok.” My take on @BoulderBedrooms continuing push to put reforming Boulder’s occupancy limits on the November 2020 ballot. https://t.co/u92debv8nu
Boulder! Please help get Bedrooms Are For People on the ballot! Today and tomorrow are the LAST two days to sign and we need every signature! Thank you so much for supporting us.
BOULDER! Sunday is going to be the LAST DAY to sign the Bedrooms Are For People petition!
you can sign @boulderbedrooms TODAY:- Whole Foods, Pearl and 28th Street, 4-7PM
- King Soopers, Table Mesa Shopping Center, 1-4PM
We're raising funds for our legal defense fund!
#Boulder City Council doesn't believe you should have the right to vote on fairer housing this fall.
Will you help with a donation?

last evening, Boulder City Council killed democracy to fight @boulderbedrooms which is a fair housing change to Boulder's charter. it was the most disgusting and undemocratic action I have ever seen from an elected body. https://t.co/fM8BPk5M71
"The issue is not the substance of the two charter amendment petitions, but the functioning of the democratic process itself."
This week's local guest opinion by @BoulderBedrooms and @RmayorRchoice
https://t.co/LwyDyDbgqw
"The city's admittedly inaccurate advice jeopardizes a reform that could immediately expand Boulder's supply of rental housing in the middle of a pandemic-induced recession when millions of Americans are struggling to afford shelter."

WOW! $2500 raised for #Boulder Emergency Family Assistance Association (EFAA) in the past 24 hours! We're humbled by your generosity.
Can you help us meet our goal of $3000?

Our official response to the latest revelation that a #boulder city council member is using their power to suppress our support. For the next 5 days, we will halt our campaign fundraising efforts & instead direct donations to EFAA-aiming to raise $3,000! https://t.co/XToP1wPoUC
