Canada is a place of tolerance and pluralism. Cruel acts of racial and faith based hatred must be unequivocally condemned by us all. Laureen and I join our fellow Canadians in praying for the Afzaal and Salman families during this unfathomably difficult time.
Hours before one young male was sentenced for throwing a trailer hitch at a woman out for a walk because she was Indigenous, another young male ran down an entire family out for a walk because they were Muslim.
Canada is a place where it's not safe to walk unless you're white.
This mural was made by 15 year old Yumna Afzaal. Her star was stolen by hate but the spirit of her inspiring words cannot be denied. It should be shared & never forgotten. This is what every Canadian should aspire to #OurLondonFamily

2. Speak to the communities affected by this. We don't want an entire story on what politicians have to say about this, particularly those who have denied the presence of Islamophobia in Canada or who have not addressed it in their ridings.
1. Do not give a platform to white folks talking about hate in Canada, debating whether this is terrorism or a hate crime. Muslims don't want not-so-hot, hot takes when people are suffering.
