“The Fall is won in the Summer”
It is a saying that was preached to me as a high school football player. I am coming to find that it relates quite well to academia as well. Here’s to going undefeated and taking State this Fall! 🏟
What an awesome idea to improve making and viewing scientific posters! I wish I’d known about this as a graduate student. Thank you @mikemorrison! https://t.co/RhNh5uhE6x
I’ve been working on exercising more. I started a couch to 5k program and today I ran for 20 minutes without stopping. It was pretty empowering considering I struggled to run for any length of time back in January. Feels great too:)
Great presentation by @ClaireHMajor at #ITLC21! Thank you for the active session and the reminder not to mentally multitask. Time yourself counting to 52 and compare to saying the ABCs x2. Now time yourself alternating between letters and numbers (A1B2C3) x2. Big difference!
Be careful about what you read before bed. Last night I was reading “The Question of Competence,” a book on assessment in medical school. I then dreamed I was an administrator at Hogwarts in charge of assessing wizards and witches.
I just found out from my son that the state bird of Tennessee is the mocking bird. My sister @Mrs_KMcCoy has a saying, “Don’t mock the mocking bird or the mocking bird will mock you.” 🤣
Tough loss for my Chiefs last night. It was a good reminder that excellence can be defined many different ways. My biggest take away came from an ad: Are you happy because you are successful? Or are you successful because you are happy? Do one thing everyday that makes you happy!
This will be the first AFC championship game I’ll have missed since 2019. I never thought I’d be tweeting this! Who’d have thought the game would be at Arrowhead for three straight years. Go Chiefs!! I hope you can hear me yelling from Memphis :) #ChiefsKingdom#RunItBack
Remember when you first started teaching? You likely told yourself,I’m learning more now than ever before! We conduct discussions to give students a little taste of that experience. We ask them to struggle with their thinking,to express their ideas,& to have their ideas challenged.
