This evening, Israeli residents set fire twice to the perimeter of the UNRWA Headquarters in occupied East Jerusalem.

This took place while UNRWA and other UN Agencies’ staff were on the compound.
While there were no casualties among our staff, the fire caused extensive damage to the outdoor areas. The UNRWA headquarters has on its grounds a petrol and diesel station for the Agency’s fleet of cars.

Our director with the help of other staff had to put out the fire themselves as it took the Israeli fire extinguishers and police a while before they turned up.

A crowd accompanied by armed men were witnessed outside the compound chanting “Burn down the United Nations” (see video below 👇 from Israeli media).

This is an outrageous development. Once again, the lives of UN staff were at a serious risk.
In light of this second appalling incident in less than a week, I have taken the decision to close down our coumpound until proper security is restored.

Over the past two months, Israeli extremists have been staging protests outside the UNRWA compound in Jerusalem, called by an elected member of the Jerusalem municipality.
This week, the protest became violent when demonstrators threw stones at UN staff and at the buildings of the compound.

Over the past months, UN staff have regularly been subjected to harassment and intimidation. Our compound has been seriously vandalized and damaged.
On several occasions, Israeli extremists threatened our staff with guns.

It is the responsibility of the State of Israel as an occupying power to ensure that United Nations personnel and facilities are protected at all times.
UN staff, premises and operations should be protected at all times in line with international law.

I call on all those who have influence to put an end to these attacks and hold all those responsible accountable.
The perpetrators of these attacks must be investigated and those responsible must be held accountable.
Anything less will set a new dangerous standard.

BREAKING: CNN senior legal analyst Elie Honig obliterates Donald Trump as his hush money trial begins, calling him a "child" who needs to be reprimanded like one.

And he was just getting started...

"Just over the weekend, Donald Trump has been publicly posting attacks on Michael Cohen, known witness, Stormy Daniels, known witness … commented about Mark Pomerantz, a potential witness," said Honig.

"If you tolerate this, it’s like raising a child, if the child breaks a rule and you let it go, you’ve lost them. And so one of the challenges for Judge Merchan here is going to be enforcing discipline in this court," he went on.

Judge Merchan imposed a gag order against Trump to corral some of his worst behavior, but there's no telling what the disgraced ex-president might get up to as the trial proceeds.

The order bars Trump from making public comments against witnesses "concerning their potential participation in the investigation or in this criminal proceeding" but over the weekend he attacked adult film star Stormy Daniels and his former fixer Michael Cohen as "two sleaze bags."

Trump doesn't obey the law and so the law must treat him harshly. Anything less is to betray our justice system.

"All the gag order says is he’s not allowed to comment publicly about witnesses, jurors, court staff, prosecutors’ staff, or their families," said Honig.

"He’s not been abiding by the gag order and we’re going to have an important moment soon to see whether the DA or the judge does anything about it," he added.

It's time to hold Trump accountable.

Here are some helpful FACTS about the border:

FACT: Donald trump was in office for 4 years, and at one point had both the House AND the Senate. STILL didn't fix the border. Don't take MY word for it; just listen to GOP Rep. Chip Roy howl about it.

FACT: trump's stupid wall didn't stop ANYBODY. People are climbing over that thing and cutting through it with ease. In conjunction with some smart technology, the wall might be more effective.

FACT: He didn't even get Mexico to pay for it, like he said he would. Broken promises again.

FACT: President Biden DID get Mexico to agree to pay $1.5 billion for smart border technology.

FACT: If trump "fixed the border," it wouldn't be broken just a few years later. If I "fix" a broken window by covering it with tape and plastic, but wind and rain are still coming through, then I DIDN'T FIX IT.

FACT: A comprehensive, bipartisan bill was created that was endorsed by conservatives, Republican Senators, and the National Border Patrol Council (which endorsed trump in 2020), and trump told them to kill the bill so he could whine about it.

FACT: President Biden even offered publicly to give trump the CREDIT for it, during his State of the Union address. Nothing but crickets.

FACT: Republicans don't care about border security. They just like yelling about it. If it were such an urgent emergency, they would have JUMPED at the chance to pass the bill.

FACT: We are going to remind America DAILY how Republicans killed the effort to fix the border.
