Today, in the Anglican Cycle of Prayer, we pray for Igreja Anglicana de Moçambique e Angola and the Most Revd Vicente Msosa, Primate and Bishop of Zambezia Missionary Diocese.
Let us pray for:
🙏 Leadership and ministry across dioceses and missionary dioceses – for bishops, clergy and lay leaders serving in diverse and often challenging contexts, that they may be sustained in faithful service.
🙏
Education, health and community development – giving thanks for ministries supporting communities through schools, healthcare and local initiatives, especially in areas affected by poverty.
🙏 Peace and stability in communities – particularly in regions affected by conflict or insecurity, that the Church may be a source of reconciliation, hope and practical support.
🙏
Young people and future generations – that the Church may nurture faith, leadership and opportunity among young people across Mozambique and Angola.
Amen

It takes a Village - regardless of gender - to raise our children. The co-parents: relatives, teachers, youth leaders, neighbours - whose kindness, grace, discipline, listening & example shows our young people many valuable ways to be a rounded human.
At least 400,000 people have been affected by flooding in Mozambique's Gaza province alone, and an area roughly the size of Cyprus - 10,000 square kilometres - is covered by floodwater.

‘Lungs of the Earth’ is a call for environmental action and advocacy, shared today from the Anglican Communion Office. The initiative will invite Anglican churches to ‘restore and protect the lungs of the earth’, and focus on three vital ecosystems: Forests, Oceans and Ice Caps.
The initiative will amplify environmental and advocacy work from Anglican Provinces around the world. It will invite Anglicans to become involved in reforestation initiatives like the Communion Forest, to cut emissions and reduce plastic usage, to advocate and lobby governments for environmental justice and to support Anglican environmental networks worldwide.
The advocacy focus on oceans, forests and ice caps has been developed with Anglican environmental advocates around the world, particularly indigenous Anglicans. It will reflect the wisdom, traditions and sustainable practices of indigenous communities, in caring for the planet.

This week, I have been walking 100km of the Via Francigena, culminating in my arrival into Rome this morning. It was on Easter Monday in Montefiascone that I heard of the death of Pope Francis, compounding the solemnity and magnitude of the journey.
Really looking forward to hosting the Bishop of Matabeleland, the Rt Revd Cleophas Lunga, next week including a special service to celebrate the link with the Kingston Episcopal Area. Details here. @SouthwarkCofE

Proposed amendments to the Assisted Dying Bill to remove judicial oversight would leave the most vulnerable at even greater risk, as I set out in my letter to The Guardian: https://t.co/qmFN7bDMME
It is essential that the perspectives of our oldest citizens & of experienced professionals who care for them are heard by the Committee considering the Assisted Dying Bill.

There's no room for assumptions here. Expert witness is essential.
This year marks the biggest global debt movement for justice in 25 years.
Here we are outside the UK Treasury demanding debt justice. And we won’t stop until it's achieved.
