Today we think of everyone affected by the attack in Manchester on the night of the 22nd May 2017, and particularly the families who lost loved-ones, knowing that every single day of the nine years since has been hard for them.

@tedlorsversion @justmeinnit I know it’s emotionally heavy, it’s a very personal song. Like Kel also said, it’s ultimately his choice to play it. It’s a song which really does help people though.

@tedlorsversion @justmeinnit Why shouldn’t they? There are many fans at the shows who don’t see multiple shows and this is their chance to hear a very personal song to them that helps them through grief.

@goddess4thena @alsblood @samaritans I understand your pain and frustration, but the Samaritans do amazing work, it’s just that they are a charity with finite resources, with most listeners being volunteers. It does mean that sadly their lines can become busy during certain times. Alternative support is available.

The idea that disabled people should only have what others deem “appropriate” is vile. It strips autonomy, independence and dignity. It’s built on resentment, not reason. Prejudice doesn’t become moral just because it’s aimed at disabled people.

@northernassist @networkrail Members of Northern station staff have told me that not enough education is happening.

@networkrail @northernassist why is this sign always much more prominent on the railways than suicide awareness stuff. Education will always beat threats of penalties and fines. Far more prevalent than people simply trespassing for no reason.

@northernassist @networkrail All I am saying is what Northern and network rail do to help promote mental wellbeing just isn’t going far enough. These punitive penalty signs do absolutely nothing. You both need to speak to campaigners and survivors of suicide to learn lessons.

It’s something that deeply affects everyone, from people with suicide ideation, families, staff, drivers etc. threats of fines will get ignored. This is at Burnley Manchester Rd, I’ve also seen this sign at other northern stations.

There is absolutely no wonder why there are so many passenger assist failings when you’ve got companies like @northernassist who have to be pushed to accept any kind of accountability and blame other train operators rather than accept their part of the failing.

Passenger assistance in this country will never improve when so many train operators refuse to take any kind of accountability. If they can’t see their failings, how will they ever implement lasting procedural improvements.

How exactly they think disabled people are going to get jobs over the abled when even working 100s of hours for free isn't enough to get you a job , I don't know.

@Doug_Paulley it’s quite obvious to me that passenger assistance will not improve in its current form because all I’ve had is train companies, train crew, station staff all point the finger at each other, rather than anyone take ownership. Lessons will never be learnt when it’s like that. 2/2

@Doug_Paulley Hi Doug, if you wouldn’t mind, I’d like a little advice regarding an assistance fail with LNER and Northern.
Basically Northern are blaming LNER for failing to help me off at a northern station. But I believe it was Northerns responsibility.

@Doug_Paulley Thanks for your reply Doug and it’s fine that you’ve only just seen the tweet. I’m still ongoing with the complaint, northern are blaming LNEr train crew and I’m yet to hear back from LNER. I’ve since had another failed assistance having to pull the emergency handle and 1/

@georgiiebeatty I definitely feel the same. He’s achieved everything he’s wanted and more in his career now. It comes across to me now that he just wants to have fun. He’ll still keep an eye on stats, but they won’t be the driving force they once were.

@northernassist the train was only 2 minutes late into Burnley, the assistance fail further delayed this into Accrington. I had to pull the emergency door handle and wait for assistance as it was going to set off. It’s the second occurrence in 2 trips at northern stations.

@northernassist no it wasn’t delayed by a disturbance. It was delayed by your assistance failure at Burnley Manchester Rd in helping me off the train and to the station.
