If you actually love someone, then you realize that you need to fix your shit because you'll just end up hurting them. Going through trauma doesn't give you the right to inflict trauma on others. If your trauma becomes a point of contention, then you are actively doing something to make the other person feel bad enough to consider leaving.

Love is a partnership and works best when both parties care for each other. Caring for your partner means that you have to learn to grow past the negative aspects of your being, even if it was something that was afflicted by someone else. The other person should help you as well, but they can't fix things for you. You have to learn to do that yourself.

That being said, sometimes you haven't been together long enough to ask someone to take that burden. It's not fair to ask someone you've known a few months to suddenly take the burden of your whole life. You need to also learn not to overwhelm people. Nobody is going to come and magically save you. That's extremely rare. You won't be able to love someone until you can learn to accept your flaws and work through them.
