@mezonsartrepo Yeah I always understood that’s why they made the movie. But that was decided around the 2023 strikes so I wonder if tbobf s2 was still a possibility until then and was in the slate along with mando s4 and ahsoka s2
I assume this conversation was when he was cast for/filming his season 3 scene which was around the time tbobf was releasing. So is this the first sign they had legit plans for tbobf s2 and it would have fit into the broader imperial remnant plot 🥴
🚨Jonny Coyne talks about where his character Commander Coin was originally set to appear before ‘The Mandalorian and Grogu’🚨
“They [Favreau and Filoni] said they were going to put me into [The Mandalorian] season 4, and maybe a possible Boba Fett episode as well, and then it all went away. It all went away, and then the movie happened.”

As messy as the end of tbobf was, the fan and critic consensus was mixed at worst iirc and the viewership was great so I’m genuinely curious why they scrapped any s2 plans. Watch it turn out to be another Bossk appearance cancelled by woke corrupt disney
@mezonsartrepo@dave_filoni I didn’t think she was directing more than 2 eps. I assume the season ends with a cliffhanger for the crossover tho there were some random rumors that they scrapped the crossover and are wrapping it up there
I’m sorry I have to laugh at
- Filoni crossover movie announced
- execs push it and fast track a far less ambitious crowd pleaser instead
- now that may barely break even
- Filoni became head of the studio and his passion project will be demoted to streaming movie at best
Boba retired from bounty hunting
Fennec too
Cad died
Aurra died
Din is a cia asset
Embo’s big break was a flop movie
Ig-88 let ig-11 steal his whole flow
Zuckuss and 4lom are gay
Dengar
Bossk remains the undisputed current day king of bounty hunting!!
@VampArmandSuxx True but Moana 2 (literally began as streaming series) and Lilo and stitch remake both made a billion. Toy Story 5 prob will too. And I don’t have a straight answer for why that’s not happening with mando but I’m just saying
So it’s looking like the most inoffensive crowd pleasing star wars movie possible that doesn’t attempt anything original or ambitious and deliberately ignores the show that it came from, was actually not that appealing to general audiences after all 🤔
MANDALORIAN & GROGU coming in around $24M in its 2nd wknd, facing a drop of around 70% for a 3rd place finish. That a big & beloved brand like Star Wars is getting crushed like this by 2 low-budget Gen Z horror movies speaks volumes about where the movie culture stands right now. And where Star Wars stands right now.
Box office, streaming numbers etc are important in terms of what projects continue or get greenlit next but at a certain point if you're not an exec or shareholder you don't have to care lmao. Imagine if andor fans cared abt it losing disney millions from the insane budget
@FantasyChamps15 Well I did joke that Kennedy and Iger came up with this movie so that it would reflect poorly on their successors and improve their own legacies 😭
@veronan12 I completely agree I'm more speaking to TMAG fans who feel like they still have to defend and make excuses for the box office or the overall reception 😭
@FantasyChamps15 What's funny is I believe they decided on TMAG during the strikes. I always saw it as a calculation of how to get a sw movie off the ground and make some easy money while mando season 4 was conveniently on hold. But yes it would have done better in like 2022
@FantasyChamps15 I think they should go back to accepting original pitches from new writers and directors and ofc be more willing to take risks. The Kinberg trilogy is promising (except for his track record being spotty) and it seems like they were already planning to move forward with that
@FantasyChamps15 Idk. Starfighter will be interesting cause the story seems fairly formulaic rn but maybe a fresh start in a new era, the cast leaning more into star power, the action and visuals potentially being more inspired, will connect with audiences a lot more
@FantasyChamps15 It’s hard to imagine andor condensed as a prestige drama film, idk if that would have worked or ended up being perceived as any less a bizarre swing and miss
@sortasmall43 It's genuinely a mystery like bringing back the ESB hunters isn't any more corny or less creative than what they've been doing instead. And you can't tell me Favreau doesn't know them like the back of his hand
