I grew up in poverty & have experienced many ACEs. I left the NHS to pursue a more therapeutic SLT career. 8 years later … we are becoming a Trauma-Informed Community Interest Company, bringing all of my life & work based learning into practice. Excited for this next step! 💚

Year 2 have enjoyed developing their independence during PSHE. We have celebrated the things we can do and this week we have spread butter onto our bagels using a knife. Great resilience Year 2! @elmtreeacademy#courage#excellence#curiosity
Family means everything to me.
That's why I'm really pleased that we've now delivered on our commitment of 75 Family Hubs in England.
It was wonderful to visit Kingsway Family Hub in Halton and see the incredible support families like mum Chloe and Douglas are benefitting from.
Some fabulous moments at @elmtreeacademy today. A child verbally asking for “help” during snack time, another child saying “hello and good morning” and some fantastic 1:1 interactions throughout the day. Job satisfaction at its best☺️😁
I had the chance to attend the #wwfc visit to Woodsetton School. The players were great with the kids, who were buzzing 😊 The staff were too 😁
You can hear Max Kilman & find out more about @wwfcfoundation’s role in supporting #SEND children on @RakeemOmar tomorrow on @bbcwm 👍
Ash class thoroughly enjoyed yesterday's learning challenge. It was lovely to be able to share these experiences with our parents too. Splendid Seasons 😁 from snow angels to hearing a crash of thunder 🌨 ⚡ @elmtreeacademy
Passionately support this. The system is broken, unfit for purpose and needs urgent reform. Leaders and all in schools are at breaking point because of the unfair, unjust and pointless system. Leaders who inspect can help, now. #HandInYourBadge@BeyondOfsted
A few people have asked me if they can watch my short film Linda starring @BarbaraNice so I've popped it on Vimeo On Demand for £1.50.
All profits will go to making more films in Birmingham using paid young trainees from the Midlands. Hope you enjoy!

Thank you @SpeechAndLangUK for inviting me to @KensingtonRoyal’s Christmas Carol Concert at Westminster Abbey 🙏
It’s been an honour fundraising for a cause so close to our family’s hearts & I’ll continue to raise awareness of #SLT#SpeechAndLanguage in 2024 ❤️
Fantastic conversations going on @AlbrightCentre @PrimrosePRU during info dumping re neuroaffirmative practice and autistic experience. Thank you for having me! @elmtreeacademy@VicAcademies
"It takes all kinds of minds for society to function-Normality should not be assumed to be superior to divergence. There (are) many kinds of minds. Each enabled/disabled in different environments, & no single one is naturally superior to all the others." https://t.co/BK4Hm1d3E2
Once again a report is highlighting how vital SLT is yet we are constantly underfunded. Early intervention services that have been shut down as a result of funding will have also had a significant impact
Agreed!.
@EmilyRubin9 & SCERTS training was truly inspiring, bringing regulation, interaction and a childs/YPs environment together, all with equal importance.
3rd and final day of SCERTS training with @EmilyRubin9 and Amy Laurent, really inspiring...the frequent use of "we know better, we do better" and the emphasis on activities with intrinsic rather than extrinsic reward throughout. Lots to feed back to the team!
