The problem people have with me is that I see them clearly. I pay attention to patterns, not performances. I listen to actions more than words. People get uncomfortable when they realize they can’t manipulate the way they’re used to, because once someone sees through the mask, the game is over. Not everyone will like the version of you that refuses to be fooled, and that’s a price worth paying for peace.
How messed up must your life be if, when you encounter someone's genuine kindness, your first thought is about how you must have "finessed" the true generosity of someone who had absolutely nothing to lose by helping you? 🙂
