@asemota This is most likely are right if we follow those around the grandfather. Dangote’s Group head of strategy is an electrical engineer and also ex McKinsey.
@afalli Similar to the bus terminal at Oshodi, built without proper planning , looks out of place, one telco even investment a few million dollars for indoor coverage in advance and d investment became useless because no one went inside all passengers stayed outside as it wasn’t needed
@DrJoeAbah I remember attending her live show at Ranchers bees stadium in Kaduna in 1997. Those days shows went from Lagos to Kaduna, Abuja wasn’t even in the picture. To think the even even began at 11pm amd went on till morning and it wasn’t even in December.
@afalli The Zambian side is a lovely experience. Waking upon early morning to walk downhill from the resort to foot of the waterfalls, and sitting down there hearing the water falls splash and the rainbows 🌈 created is a feeling like know other. Wonderful experience to say the least.
@afalli Good point sir. Just like fibre networks for telco operators in Nigeria. These assets get damaged and cut every day across the country yet they get fixed and service resumes because local expertise is available to respond and fix them quickly. Can’t say the same for pipelines.
@oviosu Just to add that Orange actually has business in Nigeria. The mobile Operator might not have a license but Orange is much more than just a mobile Operator because they have large enterprise sub division called Orange Business.
@nwoko_greg62705 Shehu Kangiwa. My dad loved him as politician and he is one of the reasons my dad named me Shehu Usman. My dad was posted to Sokoto in the late seventies and we lived there around the time he died while playing https://t.co/xugWD8sbaQ was a tragedy..
@abdota@markessien The only reason to be close to the ocean/sea is to conquer the sea. That’s what the Vikings did in Europe. You cannot be just close to d coast and do thing about the sea like building ships to explore what is beyond. “quintessential sea people” that only move in shallow waters 😁
@afalli We still have good old Harris now Aviat Networks powering telecoms sites with terrestrial transmission for both MTN and Airtel across africa for the past 20+ yrs. small market share now but still there. Apart from d Chinese European companies like Nokia r still in the market
@afalli Our engineering expertise and reward systems in the public sector isn’t set to operate large infrastructural becos Engineering ethics and results are not rewarded so outcomes are doctored to fit the most suitable narrative which is usually politically motivated e.g 90000km fibre
@saniyusuf Following the project doesn’t mean understanding it. Those that understand this kind of infra project and followed it for a bit all agree it wasnt conceived properly and it could never have the impact the that way it was structured with loans and limited viable market research
@afalli The problem with the universities is how you upgrade the quality of the faculty and get rid of ASUU as a union. Fixing the infrastructure will help but is not a real solution.
@markessien@jadeosiberu The hole is mostly likely in the Joint venture agreements with IOC’s and the type of cost accounting model implemented in those JVs.
@afalli@markessien One thing to note also is Interswitch never really built anything at the core, maybe I am wrong but the technology for switching wasn’t theirs, they paid for it and used it to act as an aggregator that the banks trusted at a time when no one could be trusted to do what they did.
@afalli@Rxbremen The vandals usually cut the underground fibre that is exposed. Most time I hear the nomadic cattle rears just take knives and cut Fibre cables when they see them for no reason whatsoever.
@afalli@Rxbremen In a states like Niger d govt is constructing wider roads n almost all d Fibre by d road side is dug out n damaged . Wit SUE coordination d contractors r able work wit telcos using specialized tools to find d depth n location of existing underground fiber n plan damage control
