We are pleased to announce two landmark judgments affirming the regulatory authority of the Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission over unfair trade practices in Appeals No: CCPT/APP/5/2024: Coca-Cola Plc v. FCCPC; and CCPT/APP/6/2024: Nigerian Bottling Company Limited v. FCCPC. The decisions also validate the constitutionality of the Commission’s regulatory adjudication and administrative penalties imposed under the FCCPA 2018.

These decisions are significant contributions to the expanding competition and consumer protection landscape, clarifying business conduct standards and further reaffirming the Commission’s statutory mandate to protect consumers and regulate unfair trade practices in all sectors of the economy.

Slingstone LP is proud to have successfully represented the FCCPC in securing these precedent-setting decisions.
