Tim Wakefield’s wife Stacy shared a few of Tim’s own words she found written down this past weekend.
Tim Wakefield was an amazing man. This world would be a better place if we all lived our lives like he did. Rest in peace my friend.
Today the entire team wore their jerseys in the dugout, no sweatshirts or jackets, as a tribute to Wake and everything he represented as the ultimate Red Sox player.
"He was what a Boston Red Sox should look like...Nobody wore his jersey with more pride than Tim Wakefield."
Alex Cora on former teammate Tim Wakefield, who passed away this morning at the age of 57.
Today we played for Wake.
He was a great man/husband/father/teammate/friend. He loved his family and the Red Sox. He was proud to represent our organization on and off the field.
We did our best to honor him.
He will be missed.

I don’t have words, we were together a week ago, and I was so looking forward to being here for you on this stretch 😭😭😭😭😭😭
I will miss you my teammate…my heart hurts. Carolina and I will always be here for your family 🙏
I can’t describe what you mean to me and my family, my heart is broken right now because I will never be able to replace a brother and a friend like you… rest in peace my brother 🙏🏿❤️
Our hearts are broken with the loss of Tim Wakefield.
Wake embodied true goodness; a devoted husband, father, and teammate, beloved broadcaster, and the ultimate community leader. He gave so much to the game and all of Red Sox Nation.
Our deepest love and thoughts are with Stacy, Trevor, Brianna, and the Wakefield family.

@ResidentFOX Amazing episode. Was able to totally connect the dots on my own dad’s journey from 3 years ago and wish i could have said more before he left us. It never gets easy. You did a beautiful job portraying a difficult subject.
