Cybercriminals have launched a new type of WhatsApp Impersonation Fraud specifically targeting business heads, CEOs, CFOs, and accountants of large corporations. By sending malicious phishing links to official email addresses, they are infiltrating computers with malware to gain full remote access to the systems.
Once they gain control of a system, the attackers exploit active WhatsApp Web sessions to send misleading messages to accountants while posing as the CEO or CFO. They use social engineering tactics, claiming to be in an urgent meeting and unable to take calls, to trick staff into transferring crores of rupees immediately to their fraudulent accounts. Since the messages appear to come from the actual WhatsApp accounts of the top executives, accountants often believe them to be genuine and process the payments.
With several such cases being reported recently within the Hyderabad Commissionerate jurisdiction, every company must remain highly vigilant. One should never blindly trust financial requests received on WhatsApp, even if they appear to be from superiors. It is essential to immediately call the concerned person directly to verify the authenticity of the message before making any transaction.
Companies should ensure that high-quality firewalls and antivirus software are installed on all office systems. Additionally, users must make it a habit to log out of WhatsApp Web after every use.
If you fall victim to a cyber-fraud, do not delay and immediately call the 1930 helpline number or file a complaint at https://t.co/uWYVADjj4s.

Honouring Dedication: CP V.C. Sajjanar, IPS Presents Awards to 1,446 Police Personnel; ‘Extra Mile’ Awards Mark a First for City Police
In recognition of dedication and performance in the line of duty, City Police Commissioner Sri V.C. Sajjanar, IPS, presented rewards to 1,446 police personnel on Sunday. Marking a first for the City Police, the Commissioner, along with senior officers, conferred the newly instituted ‘Extra Mile’ Awards and ‘Good Work Done’ Rewards.
The award ceremony was held at the Telangana State Integrated Command and Control Centre (TGICCC) in Banjara Hills, Hyderabad.
Addressing the gathering, Commissioner Sri V.C. Sajjanar, IPS, congratulated the awardees and said that policing is not merely a profession but a social responsibility. He urged personnel to go beyond routine duties and uphold accountability, innovation, and humane conduct while interacting with the public.
“The true measure of success lies not only in completing a task but in the confidence and reassurance extended to victims. When police personnel act responsibly beyond the call of duty, public trust in the force strengthens,” the Commissioner said.
Explaining the ‘Extra Mile’ initiative, the Commissioner stated that it aims to identify and recognise personnel who display exceptional talent and render services beyond their assigned roles. “This recognition is intended to motivate the force and encourage others to perform with greater commitment,” he added.
Highlighting the role of human values in policing, Sri V.C. Sajjanar, IPS, said that while technology has advanced significantly, it cannot replace integrity, sincerity, and compassion at the grassroots level. He appreciated the collective efforts of the force—from Home Guards to senior officers—in maintaining law and order in the city.
The Commissioner also announced that the recognition process would continue. Awards will be presented every month at the zonal level to SHOs, SIs, and Constables for notable performance.
Award Details:
The awards were finalised based on performance during the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th quarters of the previous financial year.
* Extra Mile Awards: 271 personnel
* Good Work Done Rewards: 1,175 personnel
The awardees included Additional DCPs, ACPs, Inspectors, SIs, ASIs, Head Constables, Constables, Home Guards, ministerial staff, and Public Prosecutors.
The event was attended by Additional CP M. Srinivasulu, IPS; Joint CP Smt. Swetha, IPS; DCPs Chaitanya Kumar, IPS, Shilpavalli, IPS, Arvind Babu, Lavanya Naik, Venkata Lakshmi, and other senior police officers.
Some of you have been asking what is the work that a Home Secretary does and what’s the job content . For the past 2-3 months , I am doing this job and will try to explain briefly , its duties and responsibilities as requested.
Basically the picture below , which is there in my chamber , shows in a nutshell what all the Home Department of the Telangana Government looks after and is represented by the Green TG state logo in the centre. The main police dept is headed by the DGP and all its matters of service , appeals on punishments, budget and administrative proposals etc have to be sent to Home dept for processing.
There are other important departments which are directly under the Spl CS Home like the
Fire and Disaster management,
Prisons and Correctional services,
the Special Protection Force ,
Printing and Stationery , Director of Prosecutions and Sainik Welfare.
All these wings are headed by senior IPS officers and they send their issues and proposals to Government I.e. Home department for approval . In Home, the files are processed and further circulated to Law-Finance - GAD - Chief Secretary etc for their opinions / approvals as per the Business rules and then sent to the H’ble Home/ DyCM/ Chief minister for final approval.
Important policy matters relating to all these departments are deliberated from the legal - administrative- financial viewpoints and decisions taken in government. Important GOs related to the Home dept are issued whenever needed.
So , this in a nutshell is the job profile.
