@BonniCrisfulli @friscoisd This is Texas. We’re dealing with ice, not snow. Buses, roads, and drivers here aren’t equipped or experienced for it, especially student drivers. This isn’t coddling, it’s recognizing local conditions. What worked somewhere else decades ago doesn’t make this safe now.

Frisco ISD is closely monitoring how today’s higher temperatures will impact the roads and sidewalks on our campuses and the communities where many of our staff live. We will communicate a decision at 5 PM today regarding reopening our schools on Friday, January 30.

@dallasschools Please do not make our children go out in this weather tomorrow, suburbia in some neighborhoods still looks icey, even after the higher temps, there will be a refreeze coming in tonight with hours of freezing temps, that will take that wet sleet and turn it to slippery ice.

@216_Wildboy @friscoisd There will be hours of below freezing temps tonight as well, we need to cancel school not only for those busses that easily slip and slide in the tight neighborhood roads, but also for our young inexperienced student drivers.

@friscoisd My husband is from the north and couldn’t even drive that far before sliding. Even though it’s above freezing, the clouds aren’t really allowing the sleet and ice to melt off our neighborhood roads.
