#Grief is like the ocean;
It comes in waves,
Ebbing and flowing.
Sometimes the water is calm, and sometimes it is overwhelming.
All we can do is learn to swim. 🕊
And so we swim. 🤍💜
A male president was so angry he lost that he incited a mob against the U.S. Capitol.
I never want to hear again that women would be "too emotional" to be president.
Five days after the assault on the Capitol, it feels as if:
We're underestimating the threat of further violence.
Republicans aren't rejecting Trumpism root and branch.
Conservatives aren't engaged in serious rethinking.
Some Democrats lack a real sense of urgency.
I am alarmed.
BuzzFeed News spoke to two Black Capitol police officers who described the harrowing day in which they were forced to endure racist abuse as they tried to do their job of protecting the building

The more details emerge, the more it becomes clear this was not a spontaneous mob but a coordinated effort by multiple officials, military & law enforcement agents to prevent the election certification & potentially assassinate some of the elected officials.
Please DO NOT CONGRATULATE social media companies for taking action on things that should have been done months ago and could have prevented extremist violence.
There’s 2 camps (roughly) among those who recognize there’s a double standard in how law enforcement handles white terrorism v antiracist protests— 1) those who think it reflects a need for reform & training and 2) those who understand that *the double standard is the point* 2/2
What we witnessed yesterday is part of a long-standing tradition of racist ritual violence wherein white civilian mobs are enabled by authorities to rage for a period of time unencumbered & with little to no legal consequence in order to reinforce the racial hierarchy. 1/
-The mob invaded the nation’s Capitol upon the incitement of @realDonaldTrump
-One woman was shot and died
-White supremacists carrying confederate flags smashed property
-Guns were drawn in the House
And the response of Senate leadership is to just go home? I don’t understand.
