日本円は、対米ドルで安くなっているだけでなく、主要通貨に対する総合的な強さを示す指標である実効為替レートがすでに歴史的低水準にあることが問題。現在の円安は一時的な変動ではなく、日本の経済構造や政策への信頼低下に基づく構造的なものであり、日本が長期間の超低金利を維持していることで、円が投資対象ではなくキャリートレードの調達通貨として定着したため、円高の根拠を失っている。
加えて、低成長や賃金の停滞により、円がもはや伝統的な安全資産とみなされていない。米国がエネルギー輸出国へ転じたことで、原油高とドル高が同時に進行する新局面を迎えており、日本は「原油高・円安・債券下落」という三重苦の打撃を受ける。
利上げが内需を冷え��ませ、据え置きが円安を加速させるというジレンマに陥っているいま、日本経済の根本的な改善がない限り、円高となる理由はない。
