Great thread, _but I'd like to point out that,_ India is not importing $66 million worth of bamboo because of the Forest Act. Yes, it was a barrier until 2017, but the real reason is that we have not yet understood how we can source and use the Indian bamboo stock because

The mission is to help the farmers who grow bamboo, the people who make things from bamboo, and the people who buy and sell bamboo products.

In short, it focuses on the development of the complete value chain of Bamboo sector.

neglecting the full utilisation of Indian Bamboo led to the demise of the flourishing bamboo industry. It couldn't survive the Chinese onslaught.
Hence, India, from a net exporter, became a net importer.

Kudos to Coldplay for such efforts. K-pop bands & artists like Taylor Swift should definitely take a page from Coldplay’s playbook. Initiatives like this will inspire more innovative solutions 2 reduce carbon emissions not only in concerts but in other events like sporting events

While conducting concerts around the world is great for a band and boosts the local economy, it comes at a hidden environmental cost.

it’s important to consider the low survival rate of saplings when evaluating their impact on carbon reduction.
Sapling plantation isn’t a great way to reduce carbon footprints in short- medium run due to the low survival rate. Nevertheless, this is a step in the right direction.

I know how important it is to phase out quickly, and the Government needs to act because companies won't act on their own accord.
However, this issue is much deeper and more complex than it appears, and knee-jerk reactions or uninformed actions won't solve anything.

Having lived in developing nations, I realize how deeply ingrained non-renewable energy is in the systems due to its prolonged use & how many people are directly or indirectly tied to oil. Most of them fight to survive daily by working in such manufacturing factories.
