I have the utmost respect for Tim, for Boris, and without question for @NewLandMKE. The organization has been an incredible partner to Milwaukee for decades and, the way that I see it, will remain a critical partner for the city for many years to come.

It isn’t a business risk to be at odds with my administration. Instead, I believe that it’s an opportunity for us to hone in on what works and what doesn’t.

I remain grateful that the team at NewLand believes in my vision for sustaining and growing our city. In fact, because of direct feedback from NewLand, I’ve directed staff at @MilwaukeeDCD to develop new tools with prescribed guidelines on how we can expand upon the use of tax incremental financing to support new housing including workforce housing in the city.

These folks are diligent public servants and have invested their careers in building a better city and I appreciate them.

Whether in government or in the private sector, we can all improve on process, yes. Perhaps in a way, this current episode is proof of that. But if we have the same goal (which we do) of having a thriving, growing, and prosperous city then let’s all commit to working to achieve it.

While we strive for perfection, it cannot be the enemy of the good.

Let’s do more good things — great things, in Milwaukee.
