A young woman named MacKenzie Tuttle graduated from Princeton in 1992 with a degree in English. One of her professors was Toni Morrison, who later described her as one of the finest creative writing students she had ever taught.

After graduation, MacKenzie took a job at the New York investment firm D. E. Shaw. There she met a colleague named Jeff Bezos, who had an ambitious idea: selling books on the internet.

She didn’t laugh at the idea.

They married in 1993, and the following year drove across the country to the Seattle area to build what would become Amazon.

In the beginning, there was no global empire.

There was a garage.

MacKenzie handled accounting, wrote business materials, answered customer emails and phone calls, and packed orders alongside Jeff. Like many startups, everyone did whatever needed to be done.

As Amazon grew, MacKenzie stepped away from day-to-day operations to raise their four children while continuing to pursue her own passion for writing.

Her debut novel, The Testing of Luther Albright, won the American Book Award. She later published a second novel and quietly built a respected literary career.

Meanwhile, the story of Amazon became one of the most famous business stories ever told.

Jeff Bezos became one of the world’s most recognizable entrepreneurs.

MacKenzie’s role was rarely part of the public narrative.

She never seemed interested in changing that.

What many people don’t know is that she also knew financial hardship.

Her family filed for bankruptcy while she was still a student, and she has spoken about the kindness of people who helped her through difficult times—acts of generosity she never forgot.

In 2019, after her divorce, MacKenzie Scott received approximately 4% of Amazon’s shares.

Almost immediately, she made a decision that surprised the world.

She signed the Giving Pledge, promising to donate the majority of her wealth during her lifetime.

Then she did something even more unusual.

Instead of building a massive public foundation or attaching her name to buildings, she began giving away billions of dollars through large, unrestricted grants.

Universities.

Food banks.

Housing organizations.

Rural communities.

Women’s health initiatives.

Tribal colleges.

Climate organizations.

Small nonprofits that had never imagined receiving gifts of that size.

Many recipients reportedly thought the phone calls were scams.

They weren’t.

Since 2019, MacKenzie Scott has donated tens of billions of dollars to thousands of organizations, making her one of the most significant philanthropists of the modern era.

Despite giving away enormous sums, her fortune has remained substantial because of Amazon’s continued growth.

The woman who once packed Amazon’s first orders is now helping fund opportunities for millions of people she will probably never meet.

She never asked for buildings in her name.

She never demanded headlines.

Sometimes the greatest legacy isn’t the company you help build.

It’s what you choose to do with the success that follows.

Let me tell you what just got reported, because you will not believe it until you see it laid out.

The Trump administration cut a billion-dollar tungsten deal with Kazakhstan. Tungsten is the metal we need for missile warheads, fighter jets, and computer chips. Trump himself got on the phone to close it. Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick worked it from the inside, sending letters, leaning on the Kazakh president, lining up as much as $1.6 billion in federal financing.

Within weeks of those negotiations, investors tied to a firm partly owned by Donald Trump Jr. and Eric Trump took a 20% stake in an entity connected to the very same Kazakhstan project their father was negotiating. Around that same time, Cantor Fitzgerald, the firm run by Lutnick’s own sons, raised $210 million for a partner in the deal and pocketed the fees.

The fathers set the policy. The sons cashed in.

Six days after the Trump sons and their partners moved their money, Lutnick signed the final deal.

The reporting found one or both families have financial ties to at least 14 companies working with the government on critical mining deals.

The total federal funding flowing toward those companies tops $8.9 billion.

This is your tax money.

It is supposed to secure our supply chains and protect our troops, not pad the portfolios of the President’s children and the Commerce Secretary’s children.

This is the most corrupt administration in American history. It is not close.

We must keep digging, and keep asking the questions they do not want asked. Republicans in Congress are unwilling to lift a finger. Mike Johnson is running a protection racket.

Either we will end the corruption, or the corruption will be the end of us.

Scott Pelley confirmed on the record that CBS management ordered him to “inject falsehoods” into 60 Minutes coverage.

He named Bari Weiss directly. He said she was brought in to neutralize independent journalism inside the network.

He told 60 Minutes’ new leadership she was “murdering the show.”

Pelley spent 24 years at CBS News.

He just put his name on the record against the institution that built his career.

The Paramount-Skydance merger closed.

Bryce Mitchell was asked his thoughts on the White House hosting a UFC fight to commemorate America’s 250th anniversary, and he wasn’t too pleased.

“As far as the government, I'm an economics major. I love studying politics on the political side of things, not the UFC's business. Of course they're going to say yes to it, but what I think personally is that our government is desecrating its role in society by entertaining sports," said Mitchell.

“Our government is to protect and serve the people and really should be as minimal as possible. And when you're doing all of this stuff, hosting sporting events, it's really outside of what the goal of the government was intended to be because our tax dollars and resources are funding this operation.”

“And like I said, I'm not criticizing the UFC. I love [UFC founder] Dana [White]. It's a once-in-a-lifetime thing. But the government should never be hosting sporting events because, there's more room for corruption and we already have a corrupt government. And so that's my thoughts on it, is that the government is supposed to protect us, not entertain us.”

BOOM. Mic drop! It is a HUGE surprise to hear this from Mitchell, who is likely going to be participating in this fight himself.

He’s absolutely right. Trump has no business spending our taxpayer dollars to fulfill his teenage fantasies of being able to host a UFC fight full of big, strong, handsome guys right on the White House lawn for his own personal amusement.

He’s not a king or an emperor – he’s just a demented old serial rapist and alleged pedophile who needs to be removed from office immediately.

That way, the Washington Monument is reflective to you when at the Lincoln Memorial, and when at the Washington Monument, the Lincoln Memorial is reflective to you.

Menard, 30, is a progressive activist and lobbyist for the Texas Medical Association focused on early learning, childcare access, healthcare affordability, and defending evidence-based gender-affirming care against Republican attacks.

She’s also a cat mom and board member at a local food co-op. In short: the complete opposite of the far-right culture warriors trying to drag Texas backward.

Talarico, who dominated his Democratic primary, proudly eats barbecue and isn’t vegan, but as his team put it with a wink, “true love conquers all.”

The pair met when Menard worked as his chief of staff in 2022 and started dating in early 2023. Talarico has called her “my rock” and “my best friend,” crediting her support through the primary campaign.

This isn’t some random fling, it’s a picture-perfect Democratic power duo with real values.

While MAGA clutches pearls over barbecue, pronouns, and plant-based diets, Talarico is out here building a winning coalition and showing what authentic Texas leadership looks like. Republicans just aren’t getting any more traction with their tired culture war nonsense.

Democrats have substance, and apparently great taste in partners who actually care about people. Texas is turning blue, one Talafreako at a time, lol.
