We Have Won! No one can use ‘ORS’ on their label unless it’s a WHO-recommended formula.
This is the story of Dr. Sivaranjani Santosh, a braveheart paediatrician from Hyderabad, who fought for 8 years against sugar-rich drinks falsely marketed as ORS.
Her persistence led to FSSAI’s landmark order, protecting children and patients from misleading claims.
“These drinks had 10x the sugar WHO recommends, worsening diarrhoea and complications in millions of kids,” she explains.
This victory is not just hers, but belongs to everyone who stood with her — doctors, advocates, parents, and citizens demanding truth in labeling.
Scroll down to see how her 8-year battle changed the game for public health and children across India.

@bengalurupost1 Does it mean, they will repair the road and then give permission to other agencies to dig them up?
Since ages this is what’s been happening in Bangalore
They call us privileged to have Salary > ₹12 LPA.
They call us privileged to bear the high cost of living in metro cities.
They call us privileged to pay #IncomeTax.
But, they themselves are incapable & reluctant to accept these so-called 'privileges'.

Official Inflation in India is 2.07%. But, school fee, rent, food etc all goes up at least by 10%
So why this disparity?
Inflation means rate of change of prices.
A better question to ask is: for whom exactly?
Technically:
- Nearly 81.35 crore Indians (roughly 58% of the population) receive free food grains.
- Around half of all school-going children are enrolled in government schools that offer free education.
- And, around 86-87% of the population in India own their own house.
The real inflation (10% or more) actually hits middle/upper-income urban Indians, who rely more on private schools, rental housing, and non-subsidized goods.
