Mom of two, wife and high school English/French language teacher interested in student leadership and integration of newcomer and international students.
My class’ advice to new English learners. Thanks @DrCarolSalva for the shared writing advice. The googly eyes at the end of my pointer helped students track the words. :-)

Varvara Pakhomenko and Don Bowser, experts in Ukrainian and Russian history, are speaking to several classes at Leo Hayes High this morning. An incredible and informative lesson and opportunity for us to understand what is happening. @ASDWLimelight@LHHSRoars

#ELLChat_BkClub#ReadingWritingELs Playing catch up this week-Ch.2 & 3 remind me of the importance of discourse for comp.& lang. dev. I have seen many silent EL classrooms due to measures in place for Covid. Creativity & flexibility is key to continue using best practices daily.
During our ESL café, a teacher & I were discussing certain #Newcomer in his class; we realized that just because a student is turning everything on time & is not raising any red flags doesn’t mean the student isn’t struggling.
KNOW the story - productive struggle is hard 😓
Costume? I have been wearing a costume all school year.
My costume, like many educators, is maintaining the appearance of being strong, positive and confident in front of students, while internally being overwhelmed, stressed and breaking down.

@ChampionForThe1@Larryferlazzo Her lesson falls perfectly within the standards found in that document. In fact, based on those standards, she could have gone way further.
