I was moved by the sunset today and then I suddenly remembered a song from the Lord of the Rings: "Home is behind, the world ahead, there are many paths to tread..."

@PromiseNXu Yeah don't get me wrong, Wall Street needs to bleed. I meant, back when we were in school...first semester, eco class, crisis happened in our face. Prof didn't know what to say. Could you believe I spent so much time on investment strategy problem sets??
Reading about #GMEstock and #RobinHood, I was convinced once again that I wasted too much time on finance. #noregrets since we all waste time here and there..
One of my life goals: speak at least five languages. Just for fun. So I've picked up French again, after so many failed attempts...and I've just started to take a Korean class. Maybe in the summer I'll resume my Japanese learning...(but tests and exams aren't that fun)
When I studied history...there had always been an illusion of a "historical moment" of something. I was too often wondering, what the people confined to that moment was thinking about... Convoluted.
Interesting piece on publishing monopolies--despite the stereotypes, the Obama team was strongly pro-business, and allowed the destructive consolidation of the US publishing world (which served the Obamas well in publishing their memoirs). ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I was reading about Medieval history of Western Europe these days, one of the things that struck me was that many people in the 12th century felt themselves to be "modern". Today we're feeling modern too. We're just creatures confined to a certain time and a certain space.
Four years ago, I was watching TV in Toronto and felt like seeing a world collapse in my face. Never thought I would be in the US – but I am now. The night is tender and I've been staying at home most of the time since March. 2020 is a history that we all bear.
