The 2025 National Science and Technology Awards, the highest science and technology award established by the State,recognized 258 projects and 11 individual scientists.

The National Natural Science Award, the National Technological Invention Award, and the National Science and Technology Progress Award are administered by the State Council and capped at no more than 300 total prizes per year, making the competition among institutions exceptionally intense.

🏫This year, 81 universities served as the lead completing institution across general-project categories, collectively securing 157 awards.

Peking University @PKU1898 and Zhejiang University @ZJU_China tied for first place with 12 prizes each.

Shanghai Jiao Tong University @sjtu1896 placed third nationally with 10 prizes.

Harbin Institute of Technology @HIT_1920 earned 6 awards across general-project categories.

Beihang University @Beihang1952 , Tongji University @Tongji_Uni, and Tsinghua University @Tsinghua_Uni each took home five.

Peking University and Nanchang University each earned one of those top-tier awards. Northwestern Polytechnical University @NPUofChina, an institution known for its aerospace and materials programs, secured a First Prize in the National Technological Invention Award.

In the Science and Technology Progress category, first prizes went to Beihang University, Tongji University, Ningbo University @Univ_of_NingBo , Jiangxi Agricultural University , and the China University of Geosciences (Beijing)

19 non-"Double First-Class" universities earned awards, with Shenzhen University @ShenzhenUni and Zhejiang University of Technology @HelloZJUT leading the group at three apiece, followed by Capital Medical University with two.

On July 8th, the winners of the latest National Science and Technology Progress Award were announced. The project "Key Technologies, Equipment and Application for the ShenZhong Link Steel Shell Concrete Immersed Tunnel" received the First Prize of the National Science and Technology Progress Award. ShenZhong Link is a major national project and a key transportation hub in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area(GBA).

Stretching 24 kilometers from the Shenzhen Airport interchange in the east to Ma'an Island in Zhongshan in the west, the link integrates bridges, islands, tunnels and underwater interchanges. It is regarded as one of the most difficult cross-sea cluster projects ever built worldwide.
