This morning @SheriffMina and Congressman Daniel Webster visited the Valencia College Criminal Justice Institute, home to the Orange County Sheriff's Office Firearms Simulator Training program.
During their visit, our highly experienced instructors demonstrated a variety of training scenarios that deputies regularly encounter. These exercises focus on safe de-escalation techniques and the split-second decision-making skills that are essential in the field.
Congressman Webster also presented OCSO with an award of $342,000 that will support Central Florida training equipment initiatives. This funding will help enhance training technology and expand resources to strengthen our ability to serve and protect the community. #Safety #Training #ThankYou
Today, we proudly celebrate National Flag Day, a day to honor the enduring symbol of our nation’s unity, freedom, and purpose. 🇺🇸
As we commemorate the anniversary of the Stars and Stripes, we’re reminded of what the flag represents: the values we stand for and the people we serve. ⭐
We are proud to protect and serve under this flag, today and every day.

A wanted suspect fled from deputies on June 9, driving recklessly through Orange County with two young children inside the vehicle.
After deputies attempted a traffic stop, the suspect fled while our helicopter maintained visual contact from above. During the incident, the suspect crashed into another vehicle, let a passenger exit with a 1-year-old child, then continued driving with a 4-year-old still inside.
He later stopped, fled on foot and left the child behind while attempting to escape.
Deputies took the suspect into custody moments later. Both children were evaluated and were not injured.
The suspect faces charges that include aggravated fleeing and eluding, two counts of child neglect, leaving the scene of a crash, and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony.
Your voice matters!
Orange County Sheriff John Mina is asking residents for feedback on public safety, emergency response, and a variety of OCSO services.

On June 3, 2026, at about 1 p.m., deputies responded to a home in the 8200 block of Tivoli Drive, where there was a report of a woman outside of a home, screaming. When deputies arrived, they knocked on the door of the residence, and the woman came out holding a knife. Deputies retreated back toward the street and ordered her to drop the knife several times. She refused to drop the knife and shouted “I’ll kill you” as she continued to advance.
Three deputies fired their service weapons, and the woman was struck. Deputies rendered aid until paramedics arrived. The woman was transported to the hospital, where she died.
As is our standard procedure, the Florida Department of Law Enforcement is investigating the shooting and will turn over its findings to the State Attorney's Office for review. Once that process is completed, OCSO will conduct its own internal investigation. The deputies who fired their weapons are on temporary, paid administrative leave pending the initial FDLE review.
Petr Gavrilets, 22, was arrested by OCSO earlier this month for rape, false imprisonment and battery by strangulation. As they continue to investigate, sex crimes detectives have become concerned there may be additional victims. Gavrilets’ actions in our case were extremely violent, and we are concerned there may be others out there who have been similarly attacked. If you have any information to share with detectives, please call our non-emergency line at 407-836-4357.
The average person may experience only a handful of truly traumatic moments in their lifetime.
For law enforcement officers, those critical incidents can number in the hundreds over the course of a career.
Car crashes. Suicides. Fires. Medical emergencies. The moments families never forget.
And every time the call for help comes, we answer it.
Our deputies may never know the people they’re helping, but in those moments, they’ll give everything they’ve got.
Today @sheriffmina swore in 22 new and 15 pre-certified deputy sheriff’s. 37 deputies ready to serve the citizens of Orange County!
They come to OCSO from all walks of life with one common factor, an intense desire to protect their community.
Please welcome them to our OCSO family!
Florida's success story was built in large part by supporting the men and women who risk their lives to protect our communities.
I am honored to fight for our LEOs and to have earned the trust of both Republican and Democrat Sheriffs across the Sunshine State.
Drug money paid for this ice cream truck.
Now it’s serving ice cream to kids in our community.
Recently, U.S. Senator Ashley Moody joined Orange County Sheriff Mina for a visit to Top Kids Academy in East Orlando aboard the OCSO ice cream truck, a vehicle purchased using seized drug money that now helps deputies create positive connections with children and families across Orange County.
I’m always looking for ways to support law enforcement, strengthen community safety, and highlight the amazing things our LEOs are doing to build trust with those they serve and protect.
I had such an incredible time on Friday with @SheriffMina handing out ice cream to local kids from a truck the @OrangeCoSheriff's Office purchased with money seized from drug dealers.
These officers are turning drug money into smiles and are building lasting bonds with our community — Sheriff Mina is doing it right and I appreciate his support.
This Memorial Day, we remember and honor those who selflessly sacrificed their lives in service to our nation. Words are not enough to express our gratitude for our fallen heroes.
#NeverForget
As Memorial Day weekend kicks off and more people head out on the water, remember to make safety part of the plan.
Recently, Orange County Sheriff’s Office Marine deputies rescued a man near Bird Island on Lake Butler after he slipped beneath the surface and nearly drowned.
As boating season ramps up, deputies are urging everyone to stay alert, wear life jackets, and make smart decisions on the water.
🔥 Rapid Fire Time 🔥
Today we’ve got Deputy Marquise Kinsey from Sector 4 in the hot seat for a round of rapid-fire questions! From his favorite hobbies to his favorite band, we threw the quick questions—and he didn’t miss a beat with his answers. ⚡️
Stay tuned to see what he had to say!
Today our detectives stopped a predator before he had the chance to harm a child.
Alan Chambers has been arrested after he attempted to meet someone he thought was a 14-year-old boy - but it was actually an undercover detective.
Chambers now faces charges of Solicitation of a Minor, Transmission of Harmful Material to Minors, and Unlaw Use of a Two-Way Communication Device. Detectives want to know if there are additional victims who are minors. Anyone with information is asked to call our non-emergency line at 407-836-4357.
Parents, please monitor your children’s internet and social media activity – you are the first line of defense.
On May 15, 2026, @SheriffMina, members of FOP Lodge 93, and sworn personnel who proudly served alongside Haley Pine’s father, had the privilege of watching her walk across the stage as she graduated from The First Academy.
Haley is the daughter of fallen Deputy Jonathan Scott Pine, and while her father could not be there in person, his law enforcement family was there to cheer her on every step of the way. 💙
Today was more than a graduation day. It was a reminder that the bonds of this profession never fade and that we will always honor the promise to care for the families of our fallen heroes. Deputy Pine’s sacrifice protecting our community will never be forgotten, and neither will the family he loved so deeply.
Haley, we are incredibly proud of the strong, remarkable young woman you have become. Congratulations on this milestone and on the bright future ahead. Your eternal law enforcement family will always stand beside you.
