American Revival Road Trip update — 📍🏕️ Great Smoky Mountains!
After 13 hours in the Bronco, we were thrilled to arrive at our glamping tent just outside of Knoxville, TN! We grabbed some firewood and groceries to make dinner and made it to the tent with about 20 minutes of daylight left to spare. The kids say this has been our best meal so far! Plus, they loved roasting hot dogs on sticks they collected from the woods. One surprise ….. the shower was “under the stars!” just a short hike from our tent. All in all, we give two thumbs up and head back out on the road! We’re taking the scenic route to see more mountains which only adds 20 minutes to our drive — it will be worth it! Another 10+ hours in the car ... here we go! 🇺🇸🚘😎

If your kids get to know their great grandparents, you are rich in life— and we sure are! So grateful we got to see “Mama Jo and Papa” on this trip.
You likely don’t know this, but Mary Jo Sherrod, as wife to the then-associate warden at the Federal Detention Center in Oakdale, LA, during the prison riots stepped up and cared for the hostage negotiation teams and law enforcement officers who were working around the clock to get the prison back under control from the detainees who had set it on fire. There is now an official federal government system set up to handle crises based on what she began as a volunteer wife — now calling it a Correctional Support Team. She welcomed dozens of people to sleep and eat at her home while they worked to regain control of the Institution, and she cared for hostage families as well. She received a national award from the Director of the Federal Bureau of Prisons for her service.
Truly a treasure to get to stop and see them along our route! 🇺🇸🇺🇸

Glad to join NTD Good Morning today to talk about a Christian response to the Lindsay Clancy trial and what we’re going to do from American Revival Project to counter back with positive messaging about parenting 👇
Sharing this article I wrote regarding the Lindsay Clancy case and the social contagion element that is disturbingly present in it. Give it a read and see what I suggest as a way to turn the tide in the wave of mothers loathing motherhood: https://t.co/PydlNkKApR

One year ago today, I was waking up to this view in Israel — my favorite place on earth. Today, I was so blessed to have an extra hour in time to study my Bible and meet with the Lord thanks to Labor Day. I’ve loved it and am so grateful for the simple and beautiful way to start this day. Today I studied anew a passage I’ve read before — the last two chapters of 2 Samuel which are also captured in 1 Chronicles 21. It was fascinating to dig into the location of the altar, compare it to the location of the altar on which Abraham was willing to sacrifice Isaac, and compare that to the location of the building of Solomon’s temple. Very interesting also to dig into the hermeneutical question of which references to “the angel of the Lord” are understood to be regarding an angel or the Lord Himself. Intriguing to explore where the angel of the Lord was standing when carrying out the plague that came to Israel as punishment for David’s sin of taking a census and the resulting 70,000 people that lost their lives as a result. Love reading all of this and then thinking back to where our feet have walked, our eyes have seen, and our hands have touched the rocks and land where these things and so much more unfolded. Wow, what a tremendous gift the Lord has given us in His Word, in the mysteries it holds, and the land we can explore today in real-time as we seek to understand Scripture in context. I could not love it more. Thank you, Lord, for this gift.
My staff brought a camera along to record a few excerpts of the lengthy “spiritual heritage tour” of the U.S. Capitol that I enjoy leading a few times each year.
Every American should understand and appreciate that the religious and moral foundations of our country are essential for us to maintain.
@SharayahColter Horrific is not a strong enough word for this Behavior!!! It’s Evil!! NOT ONE BIT FUNNY!!! 😭 it makes me desperately sad and physically sick to see this

And now... the rest of the story.
Every year, families across America gather around the television.
They watch a bald kid try to kick a football. A beagle dance on a dog house. Charlie Brown get a rock instead of candy.
They laugh.
They don't know they're watching a man's autobiography.
When Charles Schulz was a boy, the other children called him Sparky. The name of a horse in a comic strip. A joke horse.
He failed every single subject in eighth grade.
Not one or two.
Every. Single. Subject.
But the grades weren't the worst part.
Paul Harvey told this story, and his voice cracked on this line:
"Sparky wasn't actually disliked by the other youngsters. No one cared enough about him to dislike him."
He wasn't hated. He was nothing.
The one thing he had was his drawings. He submitted cartoons to the school yearbook.
Rejected.
He wrote to Walt Disney. Poured everything into the drawings.
The reply was a form letter. Disney only hired the very finest artists. Sparky was not among the very finest.
Harvey paused there. Then: "I think deep down, Sparky expected to be rejected."
This is where the motivational speakers lie to you.
The rest of the story isn't about winning.
Sparky didn't try to prove them wrong. He wrote his autobiography in cartoons.
He drew himself. The loser. The kid who failed everything.
He named him after himself.
Charlie Brown.
You know what Charlie Brown never does?
Win.
His kite crashes. Lucy pulls the football. The Little Red-Haired Girl doesn't notice him.
And sixty years later, we still watch.
Not because Charlie Brown succeeds.
Because Charlie Brown keeps showing up.
Here's the part even Paul Harvey didn't tell.
Schulz taught Sunday school. He read the Bible so constantly his strips are filled with scripture.
When network executives tried to cut Linus reciting Luke 2 from the Christmas special, Schulz refused.
Either the Gospel stays, or there's no special.
It stayed.
A boy called a horse.
A student who failed everything.
An artist Disney rejected.
Planted the Gospel of Luke in front of sixty million homes.
The loser became the messenger.
God has a history of using the rejected ones.
Moses had a stutter. David was the forgotten son. Peter denied Him three times.
The kite never flew.
But the Gospel did.
Still falling?
Good company, brother.
Get up.
He's not done with you yet.
Family is so important. So important that Karl Marx pushed for getting rid of the family unit!
If socialism wants to abolish something, you can be sure we as Christians must do exactly the opposite. Be over the top pro-family!
God designed family as the building block of society. It’s the place where loves grows strongest and deepest, where children should learn right from wrong, and where character is developed. It’s the place where order, authority, and respect are taught in the right order and proportions. Every day you do something to make your family thrive, you honor God and give socialism the snub it deserves.
Be ALL IN on investing in your family!
Incredibly sad news. Praying for the families who are receiving the worst news of their lives this weekend. Freedom is not free. May we always remember the sacrifice these service members have paid.
