Bad news. Fake ORS ban has been paused by the Delhi high court.

ORSL has been allowed to sell 180 crore of their stock first. ORSL sells at 45 rupees per pack, so basically they want to sell 4 crore (180/45) fake ORS packs.

These fake products have up to 10 times more sugar than real ORS, and can be dangerous for kids suffering from diarrhea.

I request all Indians to unite and support @dr_sivaranjani
in the fight against fake ORS.

Please share this across all platforms so that we can put public pressure to not have any fake ORS sold.

An #Indian Army Jawan 🇮🇳 travelled to Gauhati via Kolkata from Nagpur by #Indigo flight 6E812 this morning. His checked in luggage was 4 kg more than permitted, while in hand baggage he just had his meal box, which means certainly less than 5 kg.

The Indigo ground staff at #Nagpur demanded ₹2200 charges for extra luggage, this Jawan pleaded that he has just ₹1000 that he'll require for travelling to his post from Guahati by bus & other expenses.

My friend CA Raju Sharma who happened to be at the Airport joined the Jawan in requesting Indigo staff to consider his situation as he doesn't have cabin baggage. They didn't allow him to take 4 kg luggage from main baggage in hand as staff said this will delay the flight. When Mr Sharma repeatedly requested staff to consider Jawan's genuine situation, the staff replied, "if you are so concerned, why don't you pay for him?".

Proud of CA Shri Raju Sharma 🫡 who paid from his pocket this charge of ₹2200 so that the Jawan boarded his flight.

Team Indigo - the purpose of this post is not for any action on Nagpur staff, but to have some policies considering such situations.

Instagram influencer, The FoodPharmer deleted his video, calling out the misleading information on Cadbury's Bounrvita product. Essentially, the product claimed improved brain activity, improved muscles, improved immune system and improved bone health.

All of these require empirical evidence for confirmation.

Cadburys has made a statement that they have designed the product on scientific basis, which means there has to be published studies backing their claims.

Here are the ones I found:
1. A study showed that caffeine content in Bournvita was higher than other similar cocoa based products. https://t.co/ctchJjvbqs

2. Pregnant women in Nigeria AVOIDED Bournvita due to fear of developing "big babies" and complicated labour/delivery. https://t.co/eQUk2saK1j

3. Another study showed that Bournvita product changes color due to inherent changes in pH due to its "sugary" content. https://t.co/yHpiIyhKcm

4. The last paper I came across anything remotely to Cadbury's the maker of Bournvita is this one:

Basically, the claims of scientific methods or studies and the scientific evidence for everything that is written on the Bournvita product is not backed by good evidence and thus, Cadbury's claims are misleading on muscle and bone growth, immunity enhancement and brain development - there are no controlled studies to show the same.

Considering the high sugar content of 71%, per serve 20g has 14.2g sugar which is approx. 57% of recommended upper daily limit and this will only increase if more milk is added, or additional sugar used over the day. Hence "claim" that using the product as advised is safe is also a misleading one.

Big Food Pharma must come with empirical evidence rather than muscle tactics to prove a point. Herbalife did the same with me when I reported on the death of a young woman after consuming Herbalife products.

"Protect the business at any cost, call out and persecute the whistleblowers and keep the consumers ignorant all the while throwing them under the bus."
