An accurate electoral roll is not merely an election requirement. It is a matter of national integrity and, ultimately, national security.

India cannot afford electoral rolls compromised by duplicate, ineligible or improperly enrolled names.

SIR strengthens the credibility of the democratic process by putting accuracy and verification at the centre.

The Election Commission must be allowed to do its constitutional duty without political intimidation.

Those demanding stronger national security should have no objection to stronger electoral rolls.
