I congratulate my elder brother and dear friend H.E @narendramodi on the historic milestone of leading India with vision and determination across three consecutive democratic mandates as Indiaโs longest serving Prime Minister, earning the sustained trust of the world's largest and most vibrant democracy. His governance has lifted millions out of poverty, rolled out digital public infrastructure at population scale, and driven unprecedented infrastructure growth resulting in rapid economic progress. He has been a strong and sustained voice of the Global South.
Want to escape the xenophobia in South Africa? Fatigued with the looting, protests, and chaos? An East African country is showing how to enforce law and order. Welcome to Addis Ababa โ clean & orderly. Just leave your political rhetoric at the door!
While South Africans in Ekurhuleni (east of Johannesburg) are busy chasing Black foreigners, East Africa is forging ahead with infrastructure development. Welcome to Ethiopiaโs capital, a vibrant city that isnโt crime-ridden. Look how clean it is!
Pleased to meet with former Kenyan President Uhuru Kenyatta and his team. We are grateful to the 73-member African Union Election Observation Mission, led by former President Uhuru Kenyatta, for its service and contribution to our democracy building process.
African institutions play a central role in ensuring that democratic processes are grounded in regional context and experience. We recognise and appreciate the tireless efforts of the electoral observers, who deployed teams across the country to support our electoral process and look forward to the outcomes.
This morning, following yesterdayโs 7th General Election, we officially opened the transformative Entoto to Kechene Medhanealem Riverside Development Project.
This landmark initiative has revitalized the heart of our capital, transforming once-degraded landscapes into vibrant green spaces through advanced soil conservation, river purification, and fruit parks seamlessly integrated with pedestrian and cycling trails.
Spanning a total riverside development corridor of 22.25 kilometers, the project stands as a tangible symbol of our progress and a practical demonstration of national growth, environmental restoration, and urban renewal.
While Kenyans are busy spreading misinformation about the Finance Bill 2026 regarding freehold land, rent, and so on, Ethiopia has no time for cheap politics. Instead, it focuses on rapidly building in silence. Thereโs no time for distractions.
The massive Borena Water Supply Project, is transforming lives across the East Borena and Borena zones by providing communities with reliable access to clean water.
Through the development of thousands of kilometers of pipelines, resilient infrastructure, advanced pumping stations, and large-scale reservoirs, we are doing more than combating drought. We are safeguarding public health, strengthening livelihoods, and unlocking agricultural potential for generations to come.
HAPPY AFRICA DAY TO ALL OUR AFRICAN BROTHERS AND SISTERS!
63 years ago, our forefathers gathered right here in Addis Ababa and dared to dream of a free, united Africa, and that dream still burns bright.
Today, as the proud home of the African Union, Ethiopia stands shoulder to shoulder with every African nation in that same spirit of unity. The work is far from over. Let us move from words to action, from promises to progress.
Africa's greatest resource has always been her people, and together, WE RISE!

Video of the dramatic and beautifully transformed capital city of the worldโs second fastest growing economy and a major African business hub. Itโs also the continentโs diplomatic centerโHQ of the African Union (AU).
It took less than five years to transform it!
This evening, I broke bread with 128 fellow Rwandan medical practitioners pursuing specialty training in Ethiopia, alongside more than 400 colleagues from across Africa.
They are part of a growing community of African physicians dedicating themselves to the kind of expertise and excellence our continentโs healthcare future demands, within institutions helping shape the next generation of African medical leadership.
Through shared learning and purpose, we continue building a healthier Africa together.
As part of our industrialization journey and a major milestone in advancing the โMade in Ethiopiaโ initiative, the inauguration of the Grandeur Ceramic Factory constructed in Mojo town this morning stands as a practical demonstration that our movement will steadily expand across the country attracting international investments.
The factory will supply ceramic products that meet international standards of quality and competitiveness, while sourcing more than 80 percent of its raw materials locally. Beyond strengthening Ethiopiaโs capacity to harness its own natural resources and potential, this achievement will significantly reduce dependence on imported goods.

Africaโs largest fertilizer plant, a $4.0 billion joint venture between Nigeriaโs Dangote Group @DangoteGroup and the Ethiopian government, is under construction in the Eastern part of Ethiopia.
The investment is an excellent illustration of African public-private leadership at its best โthe Ethiopian government led by H.E. Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed @AbiyAhmedAli and Nigerian/African private sector led by Alhaji Aliko Dangote @AlikoDangoteโand brings together Africaโs two systemically important and influential countries which account for one-third of the continentโs population and are amongst the five largest economies.
The fertilizer plant will produce 3.0-million metric tons of urea annually. The initial investment was $2.5 billion but has now been increased to $4.0 billion to include a 110 km pipeline, a 120MW power plant, a polypropylene packaging facility and a two-million-ton NPK blending plant.
The investment helps Ethiopiaโthe worldโs 2nd fastest growing economy (IMF) and Africaโs 2nd most populous country after Nigeria, with 135 million peopleโachieve its strategic goal to boost agriculture, enhance food security and reduce import dependence.
For the Dangote Group the investment further demonstrates its commitment to industrial development in Ethiopia and across Africa. Dangote already has invested in the 2nd largest cement factory in Ethiopia.
Today, I attended the national summit and exhibition held under the theme "Data Sovereignty for Policy Autonomy," which celebrated Ethiopia's monumental achievement in its journey toward data and statistical sovereignty.
The remarkable progress I observed in this sector is highly encouraging. In this era, data is a strategic asset and a foundational pillar of sovereignty essential for building a strong nation-state. Because borrowed data or reliance on external entities cannot fulfil our national aspirations, collecting and analysing our own data through domestic capacity is a critical input to guarantee policy independence.
Above all, witnessing data collection and analysis being driven by the knowledge and skills of our own citizens is a source of immense national pride. Furthermore, our focus on data must not only target quantifiable metrics but must also centre on human-centric approaches that bring tangible improvements to the lives of our citizens.
Last August, in partnership with the Dangote Group, we made significant progress by signing a landmark shareholdersโ agreement for a fertilizer plant with a planned annual production capacity of 3 million metric tons of urea. In October 2025, we officially launched construction of the project.
This initiative represents far more than infrastructure. It is a strategic investment in Ethiopiaโs agricultural transformation, food security, industrial growth, and economic self-reliance. Once completed, the fertilizer plant will play a vital role in strengthening local production capacity, reducing dependence on imports, supporting millions of farmers, and creating new opportunities for jobs and investment.
This morning, together with @AlikoDangote, I visited the project site in Gode to assess the progress achieved so far. I am encouraged by the steady momentum across the project area. Construction activities are advancing as planned across multiple sections of the site, reflecting the strong commitment and collaboration driving this important national project forward.

The completion and inauguration of the Gelan Gura Industrial Park marks a monumental milestone in our journey toward prosperity, aimed bolstering our economy. The facility has been constructed on 43 hectares of land and inaugurated today. Beyond creating a highly conducive business environment for Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs), it opens the doors of employment for thousands of our youth.
This presents a grand opportunity for our nation's manufacturers to enhance their capacity, boost productivity, and increase competitiveness, allowing them to make a significant impact on our city, our country, and the wider region. By manufacturing import-substituting goods, the park establishes a direct and efficient commercial link between producers and consumers. Furthermore, by supplying products to the international market, it will play a pivotal role in both conserving and growing our nation's foreign currency reserves.

I would like to thank all the commissioners who, over the past years, have patiently and professionally worked with a high standard of ethics to advance the national dialogue process and bring it to its current stage.
A culture of dialogue is extremely important for countries like Ethiopia. Building a strong civic culture also requires continuous practice of discussion and a mature spirit of mutual understanding. The process so far has demonstrated the great value of mutual listening at every level of our society. The process has reflected the views and discussion outcomes of more than 90 percent of Ethiopians across all corners of our country.
At this time, as the dialogue process, which carries significant national importance, transitions into its next phase aimed at producing tangible results, all stakeholders should contribute constructively and uphold a shared, firm commitment to ensuring peace, unity, and lasting stability for our country.
Ethiopia and the United Nations: A shared history. A shared future. To live together in peace!
In honour of the ย United Nations' journey of eight decades, Ethiopia has published a special commemorative stamp collection under the theme: "๐ง๐ผ ๐๐ถ๐๐ฒ ๐ง๐ผ๐ด๐ฒ๐๐ต๐ฒ๐ฟ ๐ถ๐ป ๐ฃ๐ฒ๐ฎ๐ฐ๐ฒ." The four stamps tell our shared story, from signing the UN Charter in San Francisco in 1945, to deploying peacekeepers to the Congo and hosting the first-ever UN Security Council meeting on African soil. Distributed to 192 countries through the International Postal Union, they are a lasting tribute to a legacy that belongs not to one moment, but to every generation.
ย
We also take this occasion to extend our deep appreciation to the United Nationsโ Secretary-General H.E. Antรณnio Guterres and his dedicated team for their tireless leadership in advancing peace, development, and human rights during one of the most challenging periods in modern history.
ย
The UN endures because nations keep choosing dialogue over division.
Ethiopia Always Will!
