จากกรณีดังกล่าว พลตรี วินธัย สุวารี โฆษกกองทัพบก ได้ออกแถลงการณ์ว่า “ตามที่รัฐบาลไทยและรัฐบาลกัมพูชาได้บรรลุข้อตกลงร่วมกันในการยุติการสู้รบทางทหารบริเวณแนวชายแดน โดยมีผลบังคับใช้ตั้งแต่เวลา 24.00 น. ของวันที่ 28 กรกฎาคม 2568 เพื่อเปิดโอกาสให้เกิดบรรยากาศแห่งความสงบ ลดความตึงเครียด และส่งเสริมความร่วมมือระหว่างประเทศเพื่อนบ้าน

ฝ่ายไทยได้ปฏิบัติตามข้อตกลงดังกล่าวอย่างเคร่งครัด โดยได้ทำการหยุดยิง บริเวณพื้นที่แนวชายแดน ไทย-กัมพูชา ทันทีที่ถึงกำหนดเวลา ด้วยความตั้งใจจริง และยึดมั่น
ต่อพันธกรณีที่ได้ตกลงร่วมกันของรัฐบาลทั้งสองประเทศ

แต่เป็นที่น่าเสียดายอย่างยิ่งเมื่อถึง กำหนดเวลาดังกล่าว ฝ่ายไทยยังคงตรวจพบว่าฝ่ายกัมพูชาได้มีการใช้อาวุธโจมตีเข้ามาในเขตแดนของประเทศไทยอยู่หลายจุด ซึ่งถือเป็นการละเมิดข้อตกลงอย่างจงใจ เจตนาทำลายระบบความไว้เนื้อเชื่อใจระหว่างกัน กองทัพบกจึงขอประณามต่อการกระทำดังกล่าว

ฝ่ายไทยจำเป็นจะต้องใช้มาตรการโต้กลับอย่างเหมาะสม ภายใต้สิทธิอันชอบธรรมในการป้องกันตนเอง ยืนยันฝ่ายไทยไม่ได้ใช้กำลังทหารเพื่อรุกราน แต่เพื่อป้องกันการรุกล้ำและรักษาอธิปไตยของชาติ ภายใต้กฎกติกาสากล”

นอกจากนี้โฆษกกองทัพบกยังได้เปิดเผยถึงกำหนดการพบปะผู้นำหน่วยทหารในพื้นที่ของทั้งสองฝ่ายที่มีแผนพบกันในช่วงเช้าของวันนี้ว่า “ยังคงมีความพยายามในการเดินหน้าพบปะพูดคุยกันของผู้นำทางทหารทั้งสองประเทศ โดยในขณะนี้ทราบว่ามีการปรับเวลาเป็น 10.00 น. ส่วนรายละเอียดอื่นๆจะได้มีการเปิดเผยให้ทราบอีกครั้ง”

The Second Army Region reported that Cambodian forces violated the ceasefire agreement, with disturbances and the use of weapons in several areas. The Thai side responded according to the situation. Regarding a meeting with military unit leaders in the area, the Army spokesman revealed that efforts are still underway.

The Royal Thai Army received a report from the Second Army Region regarding the situation along the Thai-Cambodian border. The Thai side followed the ceasefire agreement after midnight and is closely monitoring the situation on the front lines.

Military units in the area reported several incidents of Cambodian military activity throughout the night and into the morning. Disturbances and the use of supporting fire were observed in Thai territory in several areas, including Chong Bok, Chong An Ma, Sam Tae, Prasat Ta Kwai, and Phu Makhuea. The Thai side responded according to the situation, using frontline forces and supporting fire to deter Cambodian actions.

Regarding this incident, Army spokesman Major General Winthai Suvari issued a statement saying, "The Thai and Cambodian governments have reached a mutual agreement to cease military fighting along the border." This agreement will take effect from midnight on July 28, 2025, to allow for a peaceful atmosphere, reduce tensions, and promote cooperation between neighboring countries.

The Royal Thai Army wishes to inform you that the Thai side has strictly adhered to the agreement by establishing a ceasefire along the Thai-Cambodian border immediately following the deadline, with sincere intentions and adherence to the mutual obligations of both governments.

However, regrettably, as the deadline approached, the Thai side still detected Cambodian armed attacks at several points within Thai territory. This is a deliberate violation of the agreement and an attempt to undermine mutual trust. The Royal Thai Army condemns this action.

The Thai side must take appropriate countermeasures, under the legitimate right of self-defense. We reiterate that Thailand did not use military force to invade, but to prevent encroachment and preserve national sovereignty under internation rules.

Thai Army says after midnight last night, the agreed ceasefire time, Khmer soldiers opened fire with bombs at Ta Kwai Temple, with intense gunfire until dawn, harassing Phu Makheua all night.

Another clash occurred in the Sam Tae area, Kantharalak District.

Col. Richa Suksasuwananon, Deputy Spokesperson for the Royal Thai Army, revealed that after the ceasefire agreement between Mr. Phumtham Wechayachai, Acting Prime Minister and Deputy Prime Minister, and Gen. Hun Manet expired, the army received a report from units in the Suranaree Force area regarding the situation last night, late on the night of July 28, after the ceasefire.

It was found that the Phu Makheua area was harassed by the Cambodian side, and there was a retaliatory exchange of fire from both sides until morning. Additionally, in the Sam Tae area, Kantharalak District, Si Sa Ket Province, clashes continued until 05:30 AM.
According to reports from the 2nd Army Area, in the Ta Kwai Temple area, Phanom Dong Rak District, Si Sa Ket Province, explosions were heard at 03:00 AM and 05:00 AM. In the Phu Makheua area, Si Sa Ket Province, Cambodian soldiers harassed Thai soldiers all night, with continuous retaliatory firing between Thai and Cambodian soldiers.

In the Sam Tae area, there was an exchange of fire until 05:30 AM. Additionally, Cambodian soldiers used bombs to open fire throughout the night.
