Interesting tidbit of the day: When Katherine Dunham was refused service at a 5 star hotel in Sรฃo Paulo in 1951 and spoke out about it, it led to the 1st legislative code in Brazil that focused on prohibiting racial discrimination in the country.
It was weak, but still the 1st.
There is no โbestโ music, there is no โbestโ track, there are no โbestโ musicians, there is just the miracle of music, there is just the wonder of people
Hiking in Brazil seems to mean stopping at lots of gorgeous waterfalls and water pools to go swimming. Plus there's usually someone there selling ice cold drinks (๐บ and fresh ๐ฅฅ included).
Brazilians know what's up.
Today I got 2 dental implants + a mini implant in Brazil. The total cost is less than a 1/4 of the price I was quoted in the US *for one tooth only*. And I chose a more expensive option that allows me to get a crown faster.
We all know healthcare in the US is a scam but ๐ญ๐ญ๐ญ
It's been rainy and cloudy for the past couple days and I've learned that the building I'm staying in legit whistles in the wind. Like a choir consisting of every window and patio door facing the ocean.
And yes, of course I'll take recordings!
Was an honor and a joy to play with Sarah again! Livestream is posted on the Mills Music Now site if you missed it - All concerts from this amazing festival are up ๐
Very surreal and emotional to be back at Mills College, performing almost exactly a decade later in the Littlefield Concert Hall. Iโm presenting an older piece for amplified cello and sine tones, with the incredible Shanna Sordahl. Livestreams of each concert are online!
I just learned that if a hermit crab finds a new shell that is too big it will wait for other hermit crabs who need new shells to gather and then they will organize themselves by size and trade shells and I am pissed that the crabs have a better housing market than we do
