How can operators trust autonomy to decide what happens next?

Building trusted autonomy takes thousands of tests before the mission, safety limits enforced during it, and validated improvements before the next one.

Read the second blog in our autonomy series, by Engineering Fellow Chris Barngrover.

Your missions. Your data. Your simulations. Sovereign by design.

When your mission data is too sensitive to leave the building, your simulations need to run where your data lives to train your pilots effectively.

Aechelon's simulation platform is built around those needs. @SLFeeding, Director of Market Innovation and Ecosystems, explains how nations can train together while keeping authority over their own data.

It's impressive what’s possible in the air with a clear vision, an aircraft built on open architecture, a playbook for using it, and a Shield AI culture that listens, adapts quickly, and delivers.

Proud to team with the @usairforce's Software, Autonomy, and Teaming (SWAT) branch and the F-22 team. SWAT has set a standard for disciplined urgency and extreme teaming, and that same spirit should apply across all defense programs.

Inside Hivemind’s first maritime teaming mission.

In six weeks, two Thunder Tiger SeaSharks moved from integration to live sea trials in Taiwan’s Dapeng Bay. Hivemind fused radar and AIS data into one shared track, shifted the vessels from patrol to escort, and returned each to its assigned sector without manual repositioning.

The same autonomy architecture coordinated two different SeaShark models, creating a repeatable path to bring Hivemind onto more USVs.

V-BAT is now with the Taiwan Coast Guard.

We delivered the first V-BATs to the Taiwan Coast Guard Administration (CGA) with our partner AIDC. A total of twelve will arrive in the coming months through the CGA's Shipborne UAV program. V-BAT launches from and lands on ship decks, so CGA crews can run surveillance, coastal patrols, and law enforcement across the Taiwan Strait.

Some more thoughts after day 2 of my first AUSA! 🪖

- I thought I saw everything the first day (I did not)
- Just post the content. So many people have connected with me through my @TurbineOneTech content!
- Highlight was obviously @shieldaitech’s X-BAT model
- Deeply regret carrying around a heavy backpack
- Don’t be afraid to reach out to people or start up a conversation. Everyone is way friendlier than you might think!
- The conference is apparently way bigger than it was last year, which means the defense industry is continuing to grow!

If you’re here, please come say hi! I’d love to get connected and make more friends in defense! DM me and we can meet at booth 4328!

Powered by Hivemind: autonomy development reduced from one year to six weeks

@Honeywell_Aero engineers began training on Hivemind Enterprise in late April. Six weeks later, they flew their first autonomous aircraft. Hivemind handled route planning, mission management, and communication between aircraft so the team could focus on its target detection and tracking model.

That work culminated in a two-aircraft ISR mission. Honeywell’s model detected and tracked the target on one aircraft. Hivemind passed the target location to a second aircraft, which delivered a payload and returned to base.

Gulf nations need to spot drones earlier and keep watch over borders and coastlines far from any runway.

Visit us at Milipol Qatar 2026, Booth T-052, to see V-BAT for runway-independent surveillance, Tracker C-UAS and Vision Systems for drone detection and tracking, and Hivemind for autonomous coordination and faster decisions.

Building X-BAT sustainment in Poland.

At the @WarsawForum, we signed an MOU with @GE_Aerospace and @WZL2_SA to explore in-country maintenance, repair, and overhaul for X-BAT’s F110 engine and AVEN thrust-vectoring nozzle.

The work would build the infrastructure, equipment, and training to keep X-BAT mission-ready on @NATO’s eastern flank. Poland gains sustainment capacity at home, while international demand supports the U.S. industrial base behind the aircraft.

We’re building in Australia, with Australian partners, for missions at home and around the world.

At #LandForces2026 in Perth, we showcased V-BAT, Hivemind, Aechelon and Vision Systems, backed by a local team of 100+ that we expect to double over the next year. We also announced our work with Innovaero to bring Hivemind mission autonomy to the Australian-designed OWL-B.

We welcomed leaders from across Defence, Army, government and industry to our booth, including David Nockels, First Assistant Secretary for Defence Trade, Regulations and Industrial Collaboration, and Major General Chris Smith, Deputy Chief of Army. Mark Palmer also took the stage to share lessons from Ukraine and how they apply to Australia’s operating environment.

Navy, Shield AI pour big bucks into X-BAT drone development https://t.co/Ksj9DSas0Q

[Tectonic @tectonicdefense]

✈️ The Navy is tripling down on @shieldaitech's X-BAT with a fresh $150M investment, which Shield AI is matching with $150M of its own cash. The boost brings total public and private funding for the autonomous fighter to over $400M.

The @USNavy and Shield AI have committed $400 million to advance X-BAT toward flight testing.

The Navy’s latest $150 million modification supports Defense Exportability Features, building exportability and technology protection into X-BAT early in its development. Shield AI is matching that amount.

Along with a separate $50 million Navy and @DIU_x action announced in August, the two funding actions total $200 million in government support and $200 million in Shield AI investment.

Shield AI and key suppliers now have 500 engineers building the flight-test aircraft. Flight testing begins this year.
