Some recent problems in Edmonton that police are very familiar with:
- Eritrean corner stores trafficking weapons, drugs, tobacco, stolen retail goods; Eritrean riots
- Punjabi gangs committing extortion and torching homes, running opium poppy farms
- Roma theft/scam rings that raid food from grocery stores, steal cars + seniors' jewelry

When certain communities become known for certain crimes, people are going to talk about it. Deportation is a valid thing to talk about in a democracy. It's not a "hate incident" nor is it akin to calling for genocide, as this video implies.

After public backlash, the Edmonton Police have deleted a post encouraging people to anonymously report speech that “hurts people.”

But their “non-criminal action” reporting form is still live, with police promising to use their limited resources to investigate “verbal insults, name-calling, offensive jokes, slurs and insulting language.”

Police should focus their limited resources on investigating actual crimes, not speech that is perfectly legal and protected by section 2(b) of the Charter.
