In a global context, resub-Saharan Africa rmains the region that is most affected by the HIV epidemic. In 2017, sub-Saharan Africa accounted for nearly 65% of new infections globally and 1,2 million people were infected with HIV.
Women empowerment ensures that women and girls have control over their lives and are able to participate actively in social, political, and economic domains. An educated woman will have the skills, information and confidence that she needs to be successful.
#Empowerment
More than half of the world’s population is under 25, most live in the poorest countries. Over 1 billion young people need accurate, unbiased information and health care free from judgment.
@SHIELDUganda we strive to bridge that gap with our partners such as @reachahand#PEA23
Through skills development, capacity building, mentoring and grants making, we support young leaders addressing the world’s most pressing challenges.
The young people we serve are involved in every aspect of the work that we do.

We're creating a community of advocates that fight stigma and discrimination against people living with HIV through education, positive messaging, social media, and HIV testing.
Join the fight and let’s end AIDS as a public health threat by 2030.

Building partnerships, sustainability and scale-up potential, linking Africa and the world: Our projects
must, whenever possible have a multi-stakeholder approach (through all types of project roles). Projects
should be based on solid evidence and innovative methods.
Adolescent girls and young women (AGYW) make up 10% of the population in sub-Saharan Africa (SSA), but represent 25% of new HIV infections in the region.
We need to come up with intentional strategies to curb these #NewHIVInfections among girls.
