For gameplay purposes, the sheath is attached behind the shield-side arm to preserve visual balance. It's visible when drawing or sheathing. The animation is displayed horizontally in front of the character.
I keep digging into this style, trying to combine these elements:
• Fat felt-tip pen brush strokes
• 3D cel shading
• 2D texture painting
there's still an issue with her arm, but I'm getting closer and closer to exactly what I want
