Ever since the current dispensation took the reigns, intellectualism has been looked down upon. 12 years ago something similar happened in the opposite direction.

I was in Pune, walking down Law College Road and I bump into an old senior from school. This guy had been at IITB design school and I'd stayed there during an internship and we'd reconnected and for a while he was like my elder brother.

Then many years later I bump into him outside FTII this was just after the Gajendra Chauhan incident and he laughingly told me how during their walks he and his friends would heckle and abuse the "communists and drug addicts hanging around outside FTII"

Man had taken no time to go from highly educated industrial designer to rabid sanghi whatsapp uncle. If we're seeing a new respect for intellectuals then the heart of mother India has woken again I think.
