#RSSrp I believe the rich should help the poor, as having immense amounts of money while people are living in the streets, with dreams but lacking the money to accomplish them is unjust. Even if every rich person put in a small percentage of their money, change could happen.
#RSSDebate Trump changed the topic constantly & he brought ISIS up when there was no relation to it. When sexual assault was brought up, he brought up ISIS. On top of that, he used statistics, yes, but it was false information that can be disproved by a quick google search.
#RSSDebate I think the people of Swansea were nicer and kinder, and treated you with respect as long as you did the same for them. It was a community and it was unique to see and explore. I don’t think it’s right to destroy their community and i enjoyed the time i spent there.
#RSSGent#ConGent Residents’ homes are less than what they originally paid for them due to the current market value. They won’t be able to move into a better home, and their community will be split up and relocated to different areas into a worse place.
#RSSGent I am 100% against the I-70 corridor. You can’t live life for your own personal gain, and wiping out an entire community and culture for a faster commute to work is a selfish reason. Minorities do not deserve treatment like this from others anymore.
#RSSGent I think after this video my thoughts on gentrification were amplified. It’s taking away an existing culture after that culture has existed there for so long. It’s unjust to the people and they have nowhere to go. It seems Kai felt like his home and the area was taken.
#RSSGent 1) The article brought up 80% of the residents want to stay where they live, and don’t want the development to happen. 2) 61% make less than $25,000 a year, which is less than half the amount needed to afford average rent in Denver. These people have nowhere to go.
#RSSGent#RSSGentRead What does community look like? “The choir sings upbeat songs, and almost everyone claps and praises Jesus.(THUG, Thomas, 127)” “There are more people out here than in the church, holding posters with Khalil’s face and signs that say Justice for Khalil.(133)”
@RSSShaun I think it goes back to slavery, and how people of color were poor and not in power. White people continued to have the money after that point, and then when they decided to flee the city, the took their money and left the people of color with nothing except the money they had.
#RSSGent#ConGent This article highlighted more of what I think, and had valid points such as economic eviction & more. Don’t push people out for staying in their homes based on what the future residents want. I think race is a long term factor in gentrification as well.
#RSSGent#Progent Is it really preservation of local history if you’re removing the locals who lived in those homes? Upcycling and living in an already existing home means taking someone’s ”already existing home” from them. I don’t agree. Removing people from their roots is wrong
#RSSGent Five Points had a lot of office buildings, coffee shops, and nicer homes. There was construction in this area, but building not destruction. Meanwhile, Swansea had a lot of industrial buildings (cat food factory), construction, and lower income businesses.
#RSSGent At Five Points the homes were a mix of fairly broken down and very upper class, and in Swansea, the homes were very broken down and there were no upper class homes.
