Retired rocket scientist and volunteer at the National Museum of Computing at Bletchley Park. ex-Director Computing - British Astronomical Association,
@Eclipsedbyevil@NationalEclipse Rare for it to end exactly at sunrise and sunset but I've seen 20 total eclipses and many end near sunset. I was in Madagascar in 2001. Do you want me to name them all?
@prodrive Isobel Bragg is in denial about our visit last Wednesday, despite emails days before we were turned away from our car club visit having travelled from London. Very unprofessional. Beware organising visits to them, they are not to be trusted!
@NationalEclipse Please use the international standard date format dd/mm/yyyy not the silly illogical US format. Think of confusion on eclipses that occur in June or July
@JAMA_current It is safe to watch totality just read NASA report for an accurate answer: When the bright photosphere of the Sun is completely covered, only the faint light from the corona is visible, and this radiation is too weak to have any harmful effects on the human retina.
@TicketSource Don't waste your money on their refund option as they haven't paid me for a Covid cancellation. They required a doctor's certificate, which was impossible to get. I set a copy of the test kit.
@13Troll13 Your picture is of an annular eclipse. For total eclipses you can watch without glasses during totality. Can even use binoculars. Be ready for the end of totality though, listen to the experts.
@SolEclipseInfo my new Bradt travel guide 'Solar Eclipses 2024-2027' will help you decide where to see the next solar eclipse. The 2023 eclipse in Exmouth WA was my 19th total solar eclipse.
@timesfeedback Why can't people use 'decimated' correctly? In a recent issue of the Times one of the columnists used 'decimated by half'! Decimated means reduced by one tenth.
