@goblinodds I don't entirely know what this says in response to your thesis, but it was an interesting read given that for me, the dynamic of "the person who cannot be satisfied wins" played out with the roles reversed.

@goblinodds @AlliesinChange It felt like an entire out-of-context problem, honestly - they might have *realized* I was being sincere but they didn't know what to *do* about it.
(I don't hold it against anyone involved, it's just - we don't have cultural models for making amends, esp. not in indie games!)

@goblinodds @AlliesinChange I think what really caused confusion here was that the model everybody was operating on was "abusers deny what they did and try to suppress victims to preserve position", and I was acknowledging what I did and wanted to help fix things out of moral obligation. (5/5)

Some of the fault was mine - a misunderstanding made me not realize my victim was still *there*, but I was also told they didn't understand my motivations, when I thought I was clearly trying to name my harmful behavior and offer to make amends. @goblinodds I'm in no way saying my victim *should* have given me a way to make amends, but when I tried to reach out to the wider group after six months of DV counseling (is it "domestic" if it's online?) they saw it as trying to manipulate them rather than an honest attempt to mend things.
