@RobynWinsEnnit@burfoot_philip The only acceptable reason would be that there was information or prior history of violence which made the call too high risk to attend without police presence. Risk assessments aren’t foolproof. We’ll have to wait and see what the investigation determines.
So many days of late I just want to delete my account and do something more constructive with my time. It’s almost impossible to have rational conversations anymore. So much anger, mistrust and divisiveness. I do fear for our society and all the protections we currently enjoy
@RobynWinsEnnit@burfoot_philip You can’t get a police escort if there aren’t any nearby or are tied up on other calls. I’m not making excuses for them. There has to be more to it and we will find out. If they neglected their duty they will be held accountable. We can’t be judge and jury without all the facts.
@burfoot_philip Okay, you clearly aren’t seeing that I’m on your side. Let’s just call it a night. Take good care and again thank you for your service. It’s a job I wouldn’t want for love nor money and I highly respect those who do the difficult job you’ve done.
@burfoot_philip Sorry, bad analogy but I thought you’d get the point. You can’t do your job if the scene isn’t safe. I get it. I also worked in public safety for 26 years. It was my job to make sure the scene was safe for you guys to do your thing. I appreciated each and every EMS I worked with.
@burfoot_philip You’re completely missing the point. Don’t tell me that if there is an active shooter and someone’s been shot, you have to go in as a paramedic to treat the wounded regardless because it’s your job. Bottom line is, you don’t know the rest of the story. Thank you for your service.
@DrPops3 You aren’t alone! I read everything I can get my hands on and constantly advocate for open windows, Vaccines and masks. I’m known in my circles as the ‘Covid Nazi’ and I’m good with it. If I only save one person from the knock on effects of Covid, I’ve done my part. Carry on!!
@burfoot_philip Have you ever taken first aid? The first rule is always ‘is the scene safe?’ It’s not refusing service, it’s taking necessary precautions. Just try to see the other side.
@burfoot_philip Perhaps there was prior information that there was a threat from a person other than the patient. I don’t know. I wasn’t there. I just feel we shouldn’t jump to conclusions without all the facts. Having been in that situation, you’re well aware that every call is dynamic.
@troy_wlodarek It absolutely is. Couldn’t agree more. I personally will wait to see what comes of the investigation. I can’t help but think there is more to the story than we are hearing. People are grieving. We don’t need to add to their pain.
@burfoot_philip It’s not an excuse. It’s policy, and whether or not they wanted to help, if their safety was potentially at risk, they have to wait for escort. Paramedics should not have to put their life on the line to do their job. The situation just sucks, I absolutely agree.
@troy_wlodarek So what happens when the paramedics are hurt and there’s no one to do medical care when they go against policy to wait for police escort? Those policies have been put in place by past precedent. The sad reality is, their work can be dangerous and they often need protection.
@Squijibo@mynewlife2017@wputler@alexmeshkin@US_FDA Just go back to the pharmacy you received your initial Novavax from and ask for the booster. I’ve received Nova as my 4th and got the booster as a 5th even though the phone-in registration centre in BC wouldn’t allow a ‘5th’. Pharmacy had no problem boosting both my husband and I
