During the 1st Azerbaijan–U.S. Economic Dialogue, held within the framework of Baku Energy Week, we noted the dynamic development of #Azerbaijan – #US relations and the important role of the Charter on Strategic Partnership in strengthening our #economic cooperation.
We exchanged views on expanding #trade relations along the #TrumpRoute for International Peace and Prosperity and the #MiddleCorridor, enhancing #energy security, developing supply chains for #criticalminerals, and exploring new #investment opportunities in #transport, #logistics, and digital #infrastructure.
The Minutes of the Dialogue signed at the conclusion of the event will contribute to identifying joint projects, strengthening #business ties, and sustaining a constructive dialogue on the implementation of mutually beneficial initiatives.

Within the framework of our visit to #Qatar, we met with Mohammed Saif Al-Sowaidi, Chief Executive Officer of the Qatar Investment Authority. During the discussions, we emphasized significant opportunities for expanding joint #investment activities between #Azerbaijan and Qatar.

We also exchanged views on promoting mutual investments, advancing potential joint projects, and broadening partnerships between the #business communities of both countries.

The achievements of #Azerbaijan’s #economic and financial bodies under the leadership of President Ilham Aliyev (@presidentaz) continue to gain recognition at the international level. The recent upgrade of Azerbaijan’s sovereign credit rating to #investment grade (Baa3) by Moody’s (@moodysratings) is a testament to the effectiveness of reforms aimed at fostering #nonoil sector growth, increasing revenue #diversification, and significantly reducing the state budget’s dependence on hydrocarbon revenues.

The wide-ranging reforms implemented across the country have ensured macroeconomic stability and fiscal sustainability, deepened economic diversification, accelerated the reconstruction of the liberated territories, and mobilized their economic potential. Azerbaijan’s emergence as a key strategic transport hub in both regional and global contexts also generates tangible socio-economic benefits.

Robust stability has been established through systematic reforms in the banking and financial sectors and in monetary policy; the disciplined application of budget rules; and comprehensive #tax reforms underpinned by #transparency and accountability. At the same time, strategic foreign-exchange reserves have grown significantly, bolstered by transparent public procurement practices and the #digitalization of related processes—together, these measures have driven a marked improvement in Azerbaijan’s sovereign credit metrics.

Beyond macro-fiscal consolidation, improvements in the investment climate and #business environment are attracting increasing foreign interest. The strengthened regulatory framework, investor-friendly policies, and overall economic resilience are laying the foundation for large-scale investment projects that support long-term sustainable growth and further economic diversification.

Why are both sides of the Iran-Azerbaijan border called #Azerbaijan?
If you are following the crash of the #helicopter of #Iran President #Raisi, you likely noticed that both sides of the border area are called Azerbaijan. In 1828, the Russian and Iranian empires divided Azerbaijan between themselves. The northern part became the independent Republic of Azerbaijan when the USSR collapsed. The southern part of Azerbaijan is now administered as three Iranian provinces-- East Azerbaijan, West Azerbaijan and Ardabil. Ethnic Azerbaijanis comprise the majority population in both the north and the south. They speak a Turkish language-- Azerbaijani. A third of the population of Iran is ethnic Azerbaijani. The #Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between SOCAR (@SOCARofficial) and the UAE’s ADNOC (@ADNOCGroup). As per the MoU, SOCAR will participate in production projects undertaken in Abu Dhabi, and ADNOC will extend its support to facilitate this cooperation. Within this framework, the parties will commit to expanding collaboration in the fields of renewable #energy and low carbon solutions.
