A year and a half in NYC. The amazing friends I made have all moved away over time, chasing bigger dreams (SF, SK, SG…). But at the same time, I keep getting messages from new, interesting, aspiring people asking to hang out and connect, which is something I never experienced in London. How amazing is it that people here are so open to meeting and becoming friends.
Chatting with someone about my work today. While I was prepared to show all the cool complex devtool workflows in my recent professional years, he asked me about my design for @LockcardApp - the very beginning project that got me into design.
I opened the Figma file from two years ago - all that visual exploration, all that craft. No AI design tools then. Every weird little decision was mine. It feels fresh, unruly, human.
I quick thought watching #config AI design output shouldn’t be a finished effect applied to the artifact. It should be a set of rich controls you can play with yourself. In the end, design is an exploration for thinking and feeling. AI gives its best take, and the human plays.

Good morning!
The Pen Tool is live in Paper
Draw shapes, generate SVGs, or vectorize images, and edit the points and paths.
Paper uses real SVGs so exports are 1:1, no surprises.
The new SVG workflow: create → refine → ship.
Try it out! And show us what you draw.
second honeymoon with NYC and I thought I was finally becoming a New Yorker - dragged out of bed at 2:30am by a friend for emotional support, and 5 days later, he told me he’s “exclusive” with someone new. while my ex used to say I need to stop living in the past - he meant last month. maybe I’m just not built for this city🤷🏻♀️

Last week was my 4 YOE as a designer. What I started to think about every day:
- How do I get stakeholders genuinely bought into my design opinions?
- How do I get collaborators to listen to my plan and delegation?
- And always: how do I apply my craft to sth seemingly unsexy
