Indian Railways is charging different prices for the same unreserved ticket.

My parents were traveling from Surat to Kota. It was a last-minute plan, so there was no reservation. General coach it was.

I tried booking unreserved tickets on RailOne from home, but the payment failed due to bank issue.

So I reached Surat station early and bought 2 tickets from the ATVM machine instead.

- ATVM price: ₹370 for 2 tickets
- RailOne price: ₹470 for the same 2 tickets

Same route.
Same day.
Same class.
Same train type.

Different prices for the same unreserved ticket.
₹100 extra for the exact same tickets.

what type of hidden convenience fee, surcharge is it and why it's not disclosed anywhere?

I thought unreserved fares were fixed by distance, so I’m honestly trying to understand why the app and the machine are showing different amounts for the same ticket.

If a basic general ticket can vary like this, people are paying extra without even realizing it.

Can someone explain what’s causing this difference?
