He is Dr Nagendra from Bengaluru, Karnataka.
He reported the presence of two alleged illegal Bangladeshi immigrants in the city.
What happened then? Two criminal cases were registered against Dr Nagendra, and he was arrested.
Now, the Karnataka High Court has rebuked the Bengaluru Police over filing two criminal cases against him. During the hearing, the court reportedly remarked that the police should not indulge in "appeasement" while dealing with complaints of illegal immigration and must instead act strictly in accordance with the law.
The court also questioned why criminal cases were registered against the complainant instead of first verifying his allegations. It stayed further proceedings against Dr. Nagendra until the next hearing.
Well, if an Indian citizen who reports illegal immigrants is arrested, then who will come forward to report such cases in the future? Which citizen will be willing to stay vigilant and take that risk if they themselves could end up being arrested for reporting it?
🚨The ghee in your kitchen probably isn't what you think it is. India filed 7,700 food adulteration complaints last year. Ghee tops the list.
So, CNBC-TV18's @Aish_19_Anand went to find the real thing—in Chambal. Yes, that Chambal. The land of dacoits, ravines and Gabbar Singh. Turns out the same terrain that kept bandits hidden also kept industry and adulteration out.
🐄 Inside, women are making ghee from free-grazing cows on uncontaminated land. Behind them is @KisaanSay, a startup that doesn't own the production, it takes it to market. Co-branded with the farmer. Co-profiting with the farmer. 50 paise of every rupee you spend goes directly back to the woman who made it. 🤝
Can this model actually scale? Watch to find out. 📺

Another feather in PM Modi and the Reel Minister's cap.
A former Japanese minister who was personally involved in the India–Japan Shinkansen project has claimed that, despite Prime Minister Takaichi's visit, the project failed and that Japan was excluded from the signalling system – a component crucial to railway safety.
Blaming the Indian government for the delays, he said:
"I feel 100% that the reason this hasn't moved forward is entirely on the Indian side... what stood out in international meetings and negotiations was the sheer recklessness of the Indian side, repeated over and over... The minister in charge was especially awful – if the top guy's like that, there's no way to have any decent dealings."
What a shame it is that one of India's most important strategic infrastructure partnerships has been handled in such a disgraceful way that the government's incompetence is now being criticised even by foreign officials.
All sane Indians know that this man is telling the truth. He was Japanese minister in charge of bullet train. I’d say things would’ve been far worse than he is claiming. Who is the minister he is referring to?
When a country is offering complete technology with 80% of the project cost as loan for 50 years, extendable by another 15 years, at 0.1% interest rate - will they not keep their country's benefits also in mind?

A popular vlogger has claimed that his Mercedes mileage has dropped very significantly after switching to E20 petrol, and that he fears engine damage.
I own a Mercedes Benz and thoroughly discussed E20 compatibility with the dealer before buying.
From 2018 onwards, all Mercedes Benz vehicles sold in India, especially BS6 models, have been fully E20 compatible in terms of materials, fuel systems, and emissions.
While formal E20 certification came into effect around 2023, Benz’s engineering readiness predates that by almost 5 years. That’s why Benz is Benz.
Yes, there are genuine concerns and challenges associated with aggressive ethanol blending (mileage drop, potential long term effects on older vehicles, fuel quality issues, etc.). But for a Mercedes owner, there is no cause for alarm regarding engine damage.
Claiming dramatic damage or extreme mileage crashes in a compliant vehicle simply to create controversy and gain views dilutes the real issues around E20 policy.
Let’s stick to facts instead of sensationalism.
Why I admire Annamalai is that he is truly a different kind of politician.
I saw accusations that the state government had illegitimately transferred temple lands to individuals.
I also saw the Minister clearly explaining why this was not the case, by narrating the complete history.
For everyone to understand, I have given below the English version of Annamalai’s post:
It is essential to understand the factual and legal position regarding the issue concerning 3,084 acres of land in Karur district.
The lands under discussion here are not all "temple properties." The majority are related to Inam lands. These Inam lands were granted as endowments by the Vijayanagara Empire and other rulers to archakas (priests), employees, and others serving in temples.
Later, inquiries were conducted under the Tamil Nadu Inam (Abolition and Conversion into Ryotwari) Act, 1963 (Act 30 of 1963), and ryotwari pattas were issued to eligible individuals.
Based on these pattas, thousands of farmers have been legally cultivating, maintaining, and enjoying these lands for many decades.
However, during the previous DMK regime, these Inam lands that had already received pattas were clubbed together with temple lands and classified under zero value.
This resulted in a situation where they could not be registered through sale deeds, causing farmers to face numerous difficulties in obtaining loans, transferring property, and other matters.
If the current TVK government's action is aimed at lawfully removing the registration restrictions on these Inam lands that already hold ryotwari pattas, thereby restoring the legal rights of those farmers, it should be welcomed.
Portraying this as an act of handing over temple lands to encroachers would create a misleading narrative.
At the same time, there is no disagreement that genuine temple properties should not be illegally transferred to private individuals.
It is the government's responsibility to both protect temple assets and safeguard the rights of farmers who have obtained legal ownership.
Therefore, we support the Tamil Nadu government's action to confirm the ownership of Inam lands that have been lawfully granted ryotwari pattas.
This is an important step that will resolve the livelihood concerns of thousands of farmers and address long standing registration issues.
Ravikumar and his wife, Sirisha, were living happily with their minor children in Warangal district, Telangana.
One day, the couple was found dead on a railway track. Police later began investigating the case.
Their children revealed to the police that their neighbors, Venkat and Pramila, had been repeatedly asking their parents to convert to Christianity. They also kept inviting them to attend church. Out of friendship, the couple went to church and joined Sunday prayers, but they clearly told their neighbors that they did not want to convert their religion. This led to small arguments between them.
Later, Venkat and Pramila convinced Ravikumar to invest in a ready-mix concrete business. They promised that the business would make good profits. Trusting them, Ravikumar mortgaged his wife's gold jewelry at a bank and gave Venkat Rs 20 lakh to buy a ready-mix concrete vehicle.
Venkat promised to pay Ravikumar Rs 20,000 every month from the business. However, he paid the money for only two or three months and then stopped. He also did not return the Rs 20 lakh.
As the bank interest on the pledged gold kept increasing, Ravikumar and Sirisha came under severe financial and mental stress. Their children also said that Venkat and Pramila continued to pressure them to convert to Christianity.
Unable to bear the financial loss and the harassment, the couple decided to leave their home. They later died by suicide after jumping in front of a speeding train near Ghatkesar railway station.
Police said that call records show Ravikumar spoke with the accused Venkat for a long time, about 30 minutes before the couple died. Their children are now pleading for justice for their parents.
Both accused Venkat and Pramila are currently absconding, and the police are searching for them.
May justice be served for Ravikumar and Sirisha.

Last week, on my flight from Delhi to Pune, I experienced a moment I’ll carry with me for the rest of my life.
I had just settled into my window seat when a little boy, no older than seven, stopped beside me, holding his father’s hand.
“Uncle… if it’s okay, can I please sit by the window?”
Before I could answer, his father immediately said, “I’m so sorry, sir. Please don’t feel obliged. He’s been asking since we entered the airport. It’s completely alright if you’d like to keep your seat.”
I smiled.
“It’s yours, champ.”
His face lit up instantly.
He rushed to the window, pressed his little hands against the glass for a few moments, smiled… and then, just a few minutes after take-off, rested his head on his father’s shoulder and quietly fell asleep.
He slept through almost the entire flight.
About twenty minutes before landing, his father looked at me and smiled.
“I guess he didn’t make much use of your window seat.”
“That’s alright,” I replied. “He must have been exhausted.”
There was a brief silence.
“He is,” his father said softly.
“We’ve spent the last eight months in Delhi. He’s been undergoing treatment for severe aplastic anemia at Rajiv Gandhi Cancer Institute and Research Centre. There were days we didn’t know if we’d ever make this journey home. Today is the first day the doctors felt he was well enough to travel.”
I looked at the little boy again.
Only a few minutes earlier, I had seen a child asking for a window seat.
Now I saw a little warrior who had spent months fighting for something infinitely more precious than a view above the clouds.
His father then asked me,
“Do you know why he wanted the window seat so badly?”
I shook my head.
“He told me, ‘Papa, when we’re above the clouds, I’ll be a little closer to God… and I can say thank you for making me better.’”
I didn’t know what to say.
I simply looked away and quietly wiped a tear from my eyes.
As we walked towards the terminal, his father turned around, smiled and said,
“Thank you. You made his day.”
The truth is
He had made mine.
That flight reminded me that we meet people for only a few moments, while they may have been carrying burdens for months or even years.
The impatient customer.
The distracted colleague.
The exhausted parent.
The quiet child asking for a window seat.
We see behaviour.
We rarely see the battle behind it.
Perhaps empathy doesn’t begin with grand gestures.
Perhaps it begins with choosing compassion before judgment.
✅ Everyone you meet is carrying a story you cannot see.
✅ A small act of kindness can become someone else’s lifelong memory.
✅ Sometimes the most beautiful view isn’t from the window seat. It’s the perspective that changes your heart.
Last week, I gave away my window seat.
What I received in return was a lesson I’ll never forget.
Share this Wonderful Lesson with all 🏆

I've nothing personal against Shamika Ravi. But saying poverty has almost been eradicated in India and justifying all economic disasters is not expected from Prime Minister's Economic Advisory Council.
I don't know how many of you remember Montek Singh Ahluwalia. He was in a similar position in the previous governments. He never used to dress up anything. He was always factual and tried his best to find workable solutions. As a technocrat, his communications were never political.
We need people who acknowledge problems and then work towards addressing them.
This photo would attract more talent to our army than all campaigns. I believe no action should be taken against the officer. Infact this is the kind of thing we should officially do to attract current generation into defence.

High time they come back & enjoy BJP’s Amrit Kaal. Suggest a city.

In 2024, I criticised the Finance Minister in detail as to how levying long term capital gains in addition to STT is extremely unfair and how the government is going against commitment given earlier in parliament that STT was brought in lieu of capital gains tax. Dividends are also taxed at high rates.
And now everyone agrees it was a bad move which is one of the main reasons triggering huge FII selling.
Hasmukh Adhia, former Finance Secretary said making capital gains needs no effort. This is the level of understanding policy makers have about capital markets.
I also mentioned once long term capital gains tax was brought back, the government would slowly start raising the rates.
I was heavily trolled by BJP IT cell once my criticism started gaining momentum. It did not go well with them that I was among the first set of people who started questioning charging high GST for something as essential as health insurance.
I was trolled that despite being rich, I don't want to pay tax. What I raised as an issue for a capital starved country like us was projected as me not wanting to pay taxes.
I pay 18% GST on mutual fund income received with very less scope for input credits.
I'm in the 39% income tax bracket. So more than half of my income gets taxed. I've never complained and fully compliant with all tax laws.
As Buffett says he thanks life for making him pay billions of dollars in taxes instead depending on the government for subsistence.
There are good rich people too. But many rich people think due to power and money, laws applicable to common citizens are not for them. They believe everything has a price and unfortunately our system proves them right.
Even when I was a BJP supporter, I pointed out numerous times that Nirmala Sitharaman is functioning only as a revenue minister and not finance minister.
I don't know whether you remember.
I was one among the first to repeatedly raise to government existence of both STT and long term capital gains are terribly unfair for investors. This goes against the commitment given in the parliament that STT was introduced only in lieu of capital gains tax.
More than domestic investors, this hurts FIIs more. Adding salt to the injury, long term capital gains were further increased in 2024.
I would have posted dozens of tweets in this regard tagging both Prime Minister and Finance Minister.
As always, BJP IT cell started personally attacking me that I don't want to pay taxes. How many ever times I explained the logic, that many times or more I was personally ridiculed.
For many reasons including our government apathy, FIIs are only net sellers for last many years. In parliament, we ridiculed FIIs stating that retail investors are good enough for us and FIIs are exiting a great market called India.
I pointed out how even countries like Singapore and other developed nations give importance to FII money. BJP trolls said FIIs are losing opportunity to make money out of the greatest market in the world.
Even if we are greatest, this arrogance is unwarranted. Arrogance would ensure we don't remain great.
Now we are trying to see how to conserve forex by avoiding destination weddings, foreign vacations and so on.
The elephant in the room is billions of dollars flowing out of the country every month due to FII selling. Instead of trying to address that major issue, we are focusing on overseas trips by a small percentage of Indians. Misplaced priorities.
Our finance minister still do not the feel the need to call FIIs for an open meeting and address their tax issues and other concerns.
We are absolutely tone deaf.
