Obtaining Turkish citizenship under the fake identity of Navab Virk, he had continued to smuggle heroin and methamphetamine to India from Afghanistan. Our agencies tracked him down, ripping apart veil after veil to unmask his true identity, and secured his deportation. Today he has been brought back to India and put behind bars in connection with cases involving drug trafficking and other crimes he is accused of. Congratulations to all the agencies for this success.

A media report describing the incident involving Train No. 22302 DN Vande Bharat Express on 27 September near Bolpur as a “fire” is factually incorrect and unnecessarily alarmist.

There was no fire in the train. The smoke-like mist was caused by the discharge of an aerosol-based fire-suppression unit after the equipment was tampered with by a passenger inside a lavatory.

The train was immediately stopped at Bhedia, inspected by the onboard staff, and passenger safety was fully ensured. The passenger responsible for the act was detained.

Vande Bharat trains are equipped with sensitive fire-safety systems precisely to protect passengers. Tampering with such equipment is a serious offence; it creates avoidable panic and disrupts train operations, and causes inconvenience to passengers.

Media platforms are requested to verify facts before publishing or amplifying sensational narratives, particularly on matters concerning public safety.
