60 Minutes aired a story on Ripple and crypto that twisted facts, ignored rulings, and pushed outdated narratives. Here’s how the bias unfolded—and the reality they didn’t want you to know 🧵👇

1��⃣ CRYPTO BOUGHT THE ELECTION?💰

60 Minutes tried to manipulate viewers by asking if Ripple & crypto firms “bought elections.” This framing suggests corruption, ignoring the reality of voter choice and standard lobbying practices.
‼️ FACT: Corporate lobbying is common in tech and finance. Ripple’s Brad Garlinghouse clarified: ‘We educated voters, as many industries do.’ (02:54). Ripple was advocating for regulatory clarity, not creating “special” rules 🤔.

2️⃣ DID 60 MINUTES FORGET JUDGE TORRES? ⚖️

“If XRP is categorized as a security… it would be subject to SEC regulation.” (09:10+).

‼️ FACT: They failed to mention that traditional fiat accounts for over 90% of financial crimes (per the UN). Blockchain technology actually enhances traceability, which helps law enforcement track illicit activity. Ignoring this context perpetuates outdated fear-mongering narratives.🙅‍♂️

5️⃣ FTX SCANDAL = RIPPLE?🤨

By associating Ripple with the FTX fraud scandal, 60 Minutes created a false equivalence (07:35).
‼️ FACT: Ripple operates transparently, partners with regulated financial institutions, and hasn’t faced fraud allegations. As Garlinghouse said: “Bernie Madoff didn’t make all hedge funds criminals.” Lumping Ripple in with bad actors is lazy journalism.
