@KYSecState And thank you @KYSecState for your hard work today and advocacy for all things election related over the years. Kentucky is lucky to have you.
Populi Scranton
Being an account of @VP Kamala Harris's speech in Scranton, 4 November 2024, rendered into Coverdale psalmody, and set to Anglican Chant.
@BBK8_e@fuckyouiquit Exactly. I work retail and the only day we're closed is Dec 25. And does anyone actually believe that malls/supermarkets/gas stations/restaurants would all close just because the day is a holiday?
@oldenoughtosay Kentucky had an ancient history of both folks buying votes with booze and also drunken misbehavior at the polls, so no alcohol can be sold while the polls are open. Some restrictions addressed a specific problem from a century ago!
@oldenoughtosay 2008 I waited almost 3 hrs to vote and the line was longer when I left than when I arrived. It was a party atmosphere. Saw elderly women in their Sunday best in tears to have lived long enough to vote for a black president.
@RKayBea@oldenoughtosay Plus kentucky has the earliest closing times! I expect to know the results of city/county races by 6:15pm, and my congressman soon after.
@jordielightsee @K_Leinese Just because something is a federal holiday doesn't mean people get off work btw. Government workers maybe, but not everyone.
@KYSecState If I don't manage to vote early, I'll be stopping at my polling location after I get off Tues at 5am, and waiting until the polls open at 6. Hopefully I'll be organized enough to bring a sack dinner to eat while waiting.
@KYSecState Any chance of adding evening early voting hours in the future? I work overnight; the early voting hrs are the hrs I sleep. I'm currently planning to get up early on my day off and hope to get to the library on time, then take a nap.
@stevenarmstead@Xx_Stoogie_xX Should be "clients' " for talking about the websites of multiple clients, "clients" with no apostrophe for the mention of them as a grouo.
@ArlieColes@kkramermcginnis And honestly I credit that experience as a 6/7 year old as undergirding my life-long fascination with liturgy-- talking about why we do what we do the way we do it, how it connects us to our forebears in the faith, how it reflects our theology, etc.
@ArlieColes@kkramermcginnis When I was a kid and us Lutherans got a new hymnal, we had multiple pre-service practices of the service music, and SS classes on using the new hymnal for ages 6-100. Very helpful.
