Phil is now toxic. I mean nuclear waste kind of toxic. Im not here to defend his behaviour. Its abhorrent and rightly condemned. But heres the really interesting part...ALL of this information isnt new. It was well known and well documented even while Phil was on the PGAT as most of it took place whilst Phil was on Tour. Yet Phil was praised and they were ready to give him a Ryder Cup captaincy and a spot beside Jim Nantz in the booth....whilst knowing all of what @AlanShipnuck revealed today. This actually says more about the Tour than it does about Phil. We saw the same thing with Tiger. His misdeeds were legion, yet, he was protected, then rehabilitated by the Tour. His image is still being burnished by the Tour even now. The bigger question now is this: which other golden goose's darkness is the Tour obscuring until they need it exposed for a strategic purpose?
