@neyoid@mrsmeowkins I cooked asian food while living in Iowa on like 1600/mo. Briahna and the guy she was replying to have plenty of money, it's just a skill issue dressed up as "inaccessibility"
Love Asian cuisines, but they absolutely are the worst to cook at home. You have to buy 44 ingredients to make one dish and it’s not something you’ll want to have more than once a week. Extremely time intensive and best left to the experts. I took a Vietnamese cooking class once and the ingredient list to make it at home looked like a scroll.
@mangobunnn@mrsmeowkins They're all cheap!!! Every single ingredient is <$5! Like, ok if you don't already have them but it's very silly to act like it's a hardship to get them and keep them on hand
@neyoid@mrsmeowkins All three things are still cheap in the US. A fresh chili is under a dollar, a bundle of cilantro is under $2, fish sauce less than $8. And you can find all three in just about any big box grocery store even in the Midwest bc they're... basics
@duckbldg Oh no for sure. Anyway I had to look at plans for an outdoor dog park once and was surprised at the amount of drainage involved, just wonder what that looks like indoors.

@zzbar@pretentiouswhat Why would anyone gaf about the word agglomeration machine's "take" when he put in the work to actually do the research and write about it. Fucking insulting to equate the two
@duckbldg Balboa park is the place to go with limited time. There's a model train museum there, and ofc there's the zoo. Tacos El Gordo is decent, can't really go too wrong anywhere. Maybe check out a paleteria if you like dessert, I've never really seen one outside of southern CA
